Boss Pain, have you tried KOI as tank-mate sa JARdini? in a Pond?.
yup big scales jud n cya, its a Banjar.
ill post FAQ later....
aw wala pa, ^^ advisable sa Koi kay sa Pond man dba? ^^
HERE IS THE PART 1 OF FAQ's
1.) Is it normal Aro to jump? Will the scales grow back?
A: It is very normal for them to jump. Your Aro will probably bruise the tip of its mouth and/or maybe lose a scale or two. Don’t worry about this, they will heal.
2.) Why does it jump in the first place?
A: Well mostly it is bcoz it probably saw an insect or something on the top cover which will cause it to try and catch it. Aros are surface swimming fish and in the wild, they are known to jump out of the water to catch insects and even birds. They will also if they are stressed; they can also get stressed if someone in your family (especially kids) likes to hit the tank glass surface.
3.) Can we train Aros to be less aggressive?
A: Unfortunately No! It is in their nature to be aggressive. Don’t try and change it but try to adapt to it. With this, you need to observe any tank mates that you introduce into the tank to ensure that they are not being attacked viciously by your Aro. If this does happen, it is more humane for you to separate them from your Aro.
4.) What is the best food to feed Aro?
A: There is a wide variety of food that you can feed it. I recommend that you feed it a combination of live, fresh, frozen as well as canned food.
Live food = feeder fish like (goldfish, guppies, mollies, etc), frog, meal worms, crickets, ect.
Fresh food = market prawns, beef heart, chicken, ect.
Frozen food = centipedes, cockroaches, ect.
Canned foods = pellets, dried shrimps, ect.
(Some of the live foods can also be sold as fresh or frozen food).
5.) I think my fish is sick, what should I do?
A: The first thing you should do is read this thread (I think its in page 2 Part 4 about diseases’). ^^
If your not sure, go to the nearest petshop
6.) How big a tank should I start with?
A: My recommendation is to start off with tank dimensions of at least 4(length)x2(width)x2(height), these should last you at least 3 years. The general rules is, Height/Depth is not that important as they are surface swimmer fish. Length is crucial so they have enough space to swim and exercise. When length of your Aro is Almost the width of your tank, then you should consider change it for them to have ample to turn, or else it can develop curled gills.
7.) Will this fish bring me good luck if I keep one at home or at work?
A: I cannot really answer this question bcoz it depends on what you are believe in. Aros are definitely acknowledge by some to be “lucky” and will bring prosperity, health wealth and harmony to the owners. If u are into Feng Shui, then you will probably be more inclined to believe that Aros will bring you luck.
8.) How many times a day should I feed my Aro?
A: If it is juvenile, then you should feed it at least twice a day. If it an adult, then once a day or every other day is fine. Give it what it can consume in 5min or so. Do remove any uneaten food; also refrain from overfeeding your Aro, or else you will pollute the tank faster.
9.) Why are the Asian Aros so expensive?
A: Asian Aros are a protected species under CITES. They are now commercially bred and it is illegal to catch them in the wild. Only 3 countries in the world have successfully bred them, namely Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. They are not easy to breed and until today, the Aros fry produced cannot meet the world demand. Unfortunately with all these combined facts, the price of Asian Aros will continue to be high.
10.) Can I put more than one Aro in the same tank?
A: Yes you can On The Condition that they are put into same tank when they are juveniles which will allow them to grow up together. They will generally still fight with each other but at least it won’t be fatal.
