    Sci.name: Xenopeltis unicolor
    Classification:Reptiles
    Family:Snakes
    Location/Origin:
    Balabac, Bongao, Jolo and Palawan
    Description:
This is a primitive snake known for both its highly iridescent scales and its ability to reproduce quickly, as it is Oviparous and as such can lay up to 10 eggs at a time. No subspecies are currently recognized.
Grows to an average of about 1 m (3 ft 3 in). A fossorial species, the head is wedge-shaped and narrow with little neck delineation, which makes it easy to push through the soil. Its most defining characteristic is its iridescent, highly polished scales that give this snake its common name. They have a layer of dark pigmentation just below the surface on each scale that enhances the iridescence. This is a primitive form of snake with both boid and python characteristics; which family it belongs to is still a matter of debate.

    Passerine #7 Coleto

    Com.name: Coleto
    Sci.name: Sarcops calvus
    Classification: Birds
    Family: Passerines - Songbirds
Location/Origin: Aside from Bangi Island off Borneo, the Sarcops calvus is found only in our islands (a near endemic, found common in forest, edge and clearings).
    Status: Least Concern
    Description:
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is about 11-1/2" in total length. A strange looking creature, with the bare pinkish flesh areas on its head looking like exposed brain matter. It usually perches on exposed branches, and its contrasting plumage is a challenge to expose well in the mixed lighting of its habitat. It's very smart and shy, and this was one of the few times I got it in good light and decent environment.
