Ok, before you can tell me that I'm a complete insane, I'm asking you to put down your swords for now. "Let's say" I'm doing a research/essay for my Sociology course or whatever. I'm just curious to ask.
Bandwagoners are obviously people who are "shamelessly" cheers for a particular team not because he likes them or follows them faithfully, but only because that particular team is the "popular" choice or has been or is the top team in their specific sport recently. When that team which bandwagoners follow falls from grace, they gleefully jump on the next teams bandwagon and cheer for that team.
I used to be a Chicago Bulls fan (Jordan Era, to be exact) but after they won the last NBA Championship I stopped watching basketball. Then my auntie from Toronto, Canada brought me a Vince Carter Raptors jersey in 2001 as her "pasalubong" when she returned home. Starting then, I became a Raptors fan, even though I don't see a lot of their games before. But when I watch their game on TV, I wear Carter's jersey. They were an "ok" team before, but when VC left, the team fell apart and had to rebuild -- even today. I became a die hard "fan" of Toronto Raptors even though I'm from Private (my house near USC-South), but I never changed team since then. Due to my team's shameful losses every year, I became completely understand that a real fan supports the team throughout the rough waves. My friends jump from team to team every year, for some reason. Even here in iStorya, a lot of people here came out the closet that they are bandwagoners. I don't know if this something that we should be proud of but if this was a military, they probably get charged for "treason". I just want to ask...
Do you think it's possible for "bandwagoners" to turn into true fans?
I mean no more changing teams no matter what:
- Even though they're losing.
- Even though they were eliminated in the playoffs.
- Even though the star player left.
- Even though the team sucks or their jersey sucks.
