Pag-IT na lang. Mao man jud kaha imong 'comfort zone' and that you've always wanted to achieve your 'craziest dream'. Ingna lang sila. Mo-sabot ra na sila ui since scholar pa jud d.ae ka, walay gasto. Then, ang IT pud(though I am not an IT grad), kay maka-abroad man pud. Nga equal2 ra guru gae ang sweldo nila sa mga MedTech grads. Hehe. Pero naa ra jud na nimo! Kung asa nimo feel, go! Life's too short to have regrets!

It boils down to where you're bound to find success. Not all people are cut out to be doctors or nurses. You have to imagine yourself meeting sick people everyday. And people with aching bodies are not necessarily in a good mood unless sedated...hehe. Not all people are cut out to be IT professionals either, at least in the long haul. If the IT job is too easy, it probably doesn't pay that well. Likewise, if it sounds fun (like web designing and graphics designing), there's a chance you'd end up being a dime-a-dozen among countless people all over the world doing exactly the same thing you're doing, and hence less pay.

The good thing about the medical profession (although I'm not in it) is that just the thought of going through years of study and practice would already weed out the timid and lazy. Getting the title of "Doctor" is a prestigious and respected achievement. However, success only begins when you've established a good reputation in your area of specialization. If you fail here, all those certificates and diplomas wouldn't amount much. But then again, success is always about being able to provide a high value to the marketplace, regardless of profession.

When the IT revolution got underway in the 90s, IT professionals in general used to be scarce commodities. Nowadays, that scarcity is limited to specialists of certain packaged softwares like SAP, JD Edwards, Oracle, and other ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. Java programmers are a dime-a-dozen. There are millions of such geeks churning out Java codes in India. Same goes for VB. I highly doubt if you could find a company in the US that would sponsor the H1B visas for a Java or VB programmers. Those days are gone.

There's two reasons why some IT jobs pay high and why US companies would go through the trouble of sponsoring visas and spending for relocation: 1) only a few people possess the skill set; and 2) nobody wants to do the job (i.e. due to long hours and tight deadlines). Just think of the jobs associated with OFWs: it's either DIFFICULT (e.g. combining the skills of IT, accounting, and international banking and should work long hours and 24/7 standby support), DEMEANING (e.g. domestic helper), or DANGEROUS (e.g. oil rig and construction workers).

Yes, follow your passion always. But don't over-romanticize that aspect. Reality is, you really can't judge a profession unless you've experienced working in one. Just like in food, it's called acquired taste. Do you really prefer being a web designer over being a doctor? If I have the talent for both, I'd go for the latter (and be a web designer on the sidelines).

But if interested sad ka additional skills like low level programming & computer interfacing (eg. robotics), go for CompE.
