Doctored GMA photo appears in hacked TESDA website
MANILA, Philippines - On Thursday, Internet users visiting the official website of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) were welcomed by a rather offensive and disrespectful photo of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. At TESDA's home page,
www.tesda.gov.ph, Arroyo's face was placed on top of an animated photo of a topless woman whose genitals are stimulated by an unknown individual.
As of posting, the photo was already taken down. However, the photo has already made its way through various social networking pages such as Twitter.
Just 4 months ago, hackers
vandalized the official websites of Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), prompting Internet security experts to question the government's ability to protect sensitive information.
On December 17, a picture of then Health Secretary Francisco Duque in the DOH website was tampered to make it look like he is holding genitals towards his mouth.
The next day, a large picture of a green and glowing Grim Reaper bearing the words "Hacker-Newbie.org," a Bahasa forum reportedly for hacker communities, was displayed in the DSWD homepage.
