hello guys,
i'll just quote what this is about:

This story made the rounds a few weeks ago. It's about a specific, annoying soundwave that most adult can't hear, and most teenagers can. Shopkeepers in London had been using the sound to keep teens out of their stores, then teens started using the sound as a ringtone to use in class that teachers couldn't hear. According to this other story the cut-off for hearing it is age 25.

ok, so teens are supposed to hear them right? well i'm only 16 but i can't hear it.. there must be something wrong with my hearing..Â* i just want to get the opinion of others whether they can hear it or not..

EDIT: here is another one http://www.bbc.co.uk/wiltshire/audio/mosquito_sound.mp3 this one i can hear... whew! hehe. NOTE: this one is quite "painful" to the ear, so be careful....

im 27 and the one from bbc is barely audible... i think i heard giggles... im not quite sure but its not painful as you would describe it... i guess im a bit too old for this sound. ^____^ and as for the audio from npr.org, i didn't hear anything...

i tried opening the files with a soundwave editor, and it looks to me that the resonance was synthetic. much more like an engineered one.

It's a sound, it produce waves, anyone can hear it. Even my father can hear it loud. (if loud enough) hahaha..
Sound is in a high pitch, mostly run on 16 KHz.

If you point your ear toward the speaker, capturing the sound is different, But if you face the speaker, the pick-up is greater, ya, it really bounces on your earlobes.

hehe actually that one has a high pitched tone, i don't know how to describe it..

the first link i can hear a tiiiiiit sound. the second one i can hear the giggling of a girl and a background noise. and there was a sort of banging too. i'm still a teenager. hehe.

kung imong speakers dili katong cheap lata version na tag P300 sa mga pc shop more or less di ka kadungog tingali ana... try listening to it on a higher end speakers... basin its not your hearing that has problems ^_______^
