    Default i can't upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit. help!

it says that a CD-ROM/DVD-RW driver is missing.

i already downloaded the driver for windows vista. anything that runs vista can run on windows 7 right?

i'm uising Asus DRW-1608P3S IDE DVD-RW by the way..

or should i just stay with 32-bit? sayang man gud akong 4gb of RAM if i don't utilize all of it..

EDIT: sorrry. upgrading is the wrong word. i'm trying to do a clean install of the 64-bit version.

    SPECS:
    E7500
    Gigabyte G31-ESC2
    OCZ 4gb ram
    Asus DRW-1608P3S IDE DVD-RW
    GTS 250
    HEC 700W

there is no upgrade from Windows 32-bit to 64-bit regardless of the operating system. This is a change of architecture so you need to reformat using the full-installation disc.

you must download all the drivers for windows 7. check each and every piece of hardware that you have before installing. not necessarily true. drivers that work on Vista do not always work on Windows 7. please be mindful about the drivers. normally, the compatibility test alone will not allow you to proceed to install unless you have all the windows 7 compatible drivers installed in your present system before you even install windows 7.

^ well then i guess i can't use my ODD anymore?

i'm been using Windows 7 32bit Build 7600 for a while now and there've been no problems whatsoever until they prompted to install the full retail version. i got tired of the restarts so now i'm installing the full version but 64bit. does this mean i can't use my ODD in 64bit, only in 32bit?

    yup ur CPU is 64-bit , Core2Duo..

    how r u installing it?
are u booting off your CD/DVD drive w/ the Win7 Disc?
or are u doing it inside Vista?
r u using an original (not a copy) disc?

u need to have ur DVD drive as the first boot order.
