as long as Dallas keeps Shaq and Wade below their averages, they would have a good shot at winning. Dirk and Josh won't play this bad the whole series, expect them to explode in the games to come. Terry and Devin showed quickness going to the basket against J Will and Payton. expect them to capitalize in their match-ups in the remaining games. critics branded the Mavs as "SOFT" all these years, but look at how Dirk and Stack bounced back after receiving punishment from Shaq. that only goes to show that they can no longer be intimidated anymore.

The Mavs needs to thank TERRY for getting their backs... DIRK didn't perform well as predicted (that he would dominate) against his respective defenders (Haslem, Posey). Â*

O'Neal and Wade got their numbers and a few of the supporting casts also helped out... too bad they were not hitting the free throws (and a couple of the guys on the team were not contributing on the offense).

It was a close game... like I said on the other thread, it could've gone either way. Â*Good thing is, it wasn't a lopsided victory .. I'd expect more games like this.

The Heat's gonna figure out how to handle the Mavs quickness while the Mavs needs to figure out how to use their star player (who was afraid to score in the paint).

the Mavs looked like "deer caught in the headlights" in the first quarter. Dirk and Josh played tonight below their averages in the playoffs but they will rebound in the upcoming games. they're still playing as if the Suns were their opponents - nobody going for offensive rebounds, everybody running back on defense -. they will watch film and adjust against the zone defense of the Heat in the upcoming games. the Heat will be ready for Terry but I think somebody else aside from Dirk will show-up on Sunday. Shaq and Wade will look for redemption but they badly need contributions from everybody..

yeah, i agree. looks like theyre excited to play in game 1... "gigil"

wade was fantastic but even when miami played well in the 1st q, they have not lead much.. when dallas answered, it was really really big... i dont think miami has answers to dallas' offensive prowess (sans o'neal & wade will have a very very big game)... but then, just like the pistons' strategy: stop only 1 and the team is finished...

    good game for the JET!

coaches are not the ones who make or miss freethrows, they don't make boneheaded decisions in passing - resulting to turnovers -, they're not the ones who'll miss their defensive assignments.. players do. don't get me wrong, coaches' experience do have a big impact on games but there's not much you can do on the sidelines 'coz the bottomline is: players still have to execute and make the plays.. not the coaches.

Omad - you make it sound like Coaches don't make much of a factor on the court. I may be wrong but I think the coach is the most important person on any team... maybe except for Michael Jordan with the Bulls (co-coached the team with Jackson )
