    The visit was also fruitful in the government's bid for peace and development in Mindanao. Progress was made in our bid for an observer status in the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), which is vital to the ongoing peace process between the government and Muslim rebels. Aramco, a Saudi government owned company, will build another oil refinery in Mindanao. This is part of the efforts to lessen our dependence on imported oil.
