    Default any1 have an idea

naa ba mo idea kng gi unsa pag.interface sa gasoline pump og ang computer like shell gasoline station na computerized.. pls give some idea

depende.. dapat compatible ang pump for interfacing.. usually via serial port na sya if ever.. then naa na sya specific code to connect then also specific wiring also for the serial cable to receive the data. but it still depends if pede ma interface ang gasoline pump.

you need to use digital gauge or flow meter inorder for you to interface to computer... PM me if this is a serious project. I'm working in shipyard industry, and this is part of our automation project on every vessels.

project namo sa school... for comp.E course computerized gasoline station interfacing with fuel pump...

wala me idea kng unsaon namo.. unsa amo kinahanglan... BTW gamit namo VB6 pede bani sya...

unsa klase nga flow meter? can u give some sample

ano ba goal nyo? interfacing is too General... what features are you going to interface with computer?
    eg.

    1. increasing and decreasing of liquid flows? (interface on the motor)
    2. are you going to have pressure indicator din ba? (interfacing on the gauge)
    3. are you go to include the current liquid amount of the tank? (adding tank sensor)
    4. are you going to limit and control the flows (in/out) of the liquids? (flow meter or valve)

hmm.. since this is just a project, I recommend you to buy complete electric Pumps & tank sets., I think hindi pa included dyn ang pipes, flow meter, pressure gauge, control valves and sensor. you might want to add some extra features like filters, by-pass connection etc... dagdag security features na din sa entire system nyo.

it can be done using VB6, pero you must have a good knowledge as to how to connect/interface, like:
    - are you going to use cables/wires to connect to your gas pump? if so, i assume serial ports are the best for this.
    - do you have a working knowledge on how to electronically manipulate the gas pump? sort of API b sa gas pump n pwd nimo gamiton para mamanipulate ang gas pump.
    - do you have the correct drivers for this interface/connection? usually half of these types of projects have problems tungod lng sa drivers (at least sa among experience before).

by the way, i assume you are not going to really go for a real gasoline pump, just a small prototype. pasenxa sa stupid n sentence, just concerned.

tracernet_v2, I understand what you mean...

but there's no API for pumps nor drivers on it... you cannot directly connect any ordinary pumps out there to any PC, unless you buy something that has a pre-build pc interface.

you need to determine the capacity/power of your pump, let say 1/4-horsepower circulator pump, then create your own interface box... In reality, you will only driving by ampere's right before it enters on the pump's motor., perhaps you already know how to use step-up, step-down transformer...

    for simple diagram:

    MOTOR <----> INTERFACE_BOX <-----> PC

the Interface Box is the main controller here... you can plug any other features like data from flow meters, sensors, valves, etc...

you may consider using 16MHz 80C188EB MCU to drive your interface box... its remarkably cheap nowadays.

I recommend you to visit: makezine.com: Make: Projects for some sort of ideas.

thanks for pointing that out... that's why i tried to assume he was using small prototypes for that...

and yes I also agree with you, if you are going for the real thing (I assume you know someone who will allow you to tinker with their gas pump, palihug respond sad oi...) then the interface box is the best thing you can use.
