Get the 15-85 kit. AFAIK that's a pretty good lens with an IQ comparable to the L lenses.

Also dli man jed need mo buy ka lahos kana kit lens... a cheapo 50mm 1.8 will do or 50mm 1.4 lingaw naka.

OT: (gihapon) hmmm dli mana sa canon na thinking bai :P ako ang pagdakop sa focus sa 5dmk2 this i can attest.. mas paspas pa gani cguro ang 40D.. Though ma copensate ra nimu if kaila ka sa imo camera.
also pila ang crop sa 7d 1.3 ba? (so 17-40 mahimo 22-50).. Am not talking about birding if seryoso ka sa birding even a 300mm will not suffice.

AFAIK, all Canon APSC bodies have a 1.6 crop factor.

So what was the context of your query then when you said "apiki"? For landscapes and normal walkarounds, that's a completely acceptable focal range.
