You may want the topic to only be about China, but this is a Philippine politics forum, as such any discussion of any topic whatsoever must pertain in some way to our country. And surely you bringing up China as a superpower and a threat has to be in relation to your concern of our own country vis-a-vis China right because nearly all of the forumers here are concerned with our country since we are mostly Filipinos. This is obvious if you look at the responses, nearly all of them talk about China's threat as a superpower to the Philippines. You can say whatever you want that our country is not relevant to this topic, but everyone who responded has already made it clear that it is, so unless the purpose is not to have a discussion then it must be conceded that the Philippines is an issue here, to say otherwise is to render insignificant every response you've received thus far.

I stick to my argument. China's superpower status is not that important to the Philippines because we have other more pressing issues to worry about. But if you really want to know if I think they will be a superpower, I would have to say I don't know, but then add to that again my opinion that it doesn't matter. Superpower also has many connotations, if you mean only militarily then I would say that they already are because any country with nuclear weapons can stand up to the United States or threaten such massive devastation of their cities that it would make them think twice about intervening in any local wars, hence the reason Iran wants nukes, hence the reason the U.S. cannot force China out of Tibet and Xinjiang which for all intents and purposes are separate countries (historically).

ang akong gitoohan na superpower is still thr arm forces and their nukes.
Corrected for accuracy. Historically, the term superpower was used to describe the Soviet Union and the United States (France to a smaller extent) and was mainly tied to the awesome power of their nuclear arsenals. Nukes have and will continue to define a greater part of what makes a country a superpower. That is why emerging countries like India and otherwise insignificant troublemakers like North Korea and Iran, tried their very best to acquire this technology.

It's also wrong to think their status is now threatened by the shutting down of U.S. factories. The fact is, U.S. needs China as much as China needs the U.S. Without cheap goods from China, the U.S. would be buried neck-deep in inflation and the world economy would collapse. On the other hand, China is shifting its growth focus domestically so the collapse of foreign demand is cushioned by the rise in domestic demand. It is similar to the idea of our so-called holiday economics cushioning the impact of slowing growth in foreign tourist arrivals.

The major threat to China is not the U.S. but China itself. Their policies are so bad and so corrupted it has led to a massive inflationary bubble that is on the brink of exploding. You will realize this if you go to Beijing or any of their major cities, the price of real estate is skyrocketing to such unbelievable heights it will make you wonder if the investors there have lost their sanity. Its like a piece of land in Talisay increasing in price by 2000% in just a few years.. it's unbelievable and unsustainable. Communist party has too much control over the banks and behest loans are at an all-time high, with the best loans going to friends and relatives of those in power, and the savings of the ordinary people being squandered on speculative building of skyscrapers that nobody is certain anyone actually needs. If you really want to know about China go to China, it is the best educator on this topic...

There's no effect. The Americans as sole superpower already armtwist us into doing their bidding at every turn. Hence Gloria's support of all the recent wars, hence their "punishing" us for kicking out their bases by placing many of our exports to them in unfavorable tariff regimes as well as closing down their Cebu embassy to make life hellish for anyone who wants a visa for "visiting" purposes who now have to shell out additional cash to go to Manila. Superpowers do this because they can. As I said before, walay mo daug-daug kung walay magpa-daug-daug. If our country were better run, if we were richer and more well-respected by our neighbors then it doesn't matter who the superpower is because we would be able to stand up to them. That is why i say, clean up our own backyard before we worry about the monster down the street...

So what if Google shuts down the reason has more to do with censorship than anything economic. China doesn't need Google as much as Google needs China.

China made toys banned in the US? You make it sound like it's a total ban on Chinese produced toys which isn't the case so you best be shutting your trap.

So what if many OFWs have gone home? It doesn't change the fact that:

China is the largest trading nation in the world and the largest exporter and second largest importer of goods.

    nor the fact that:

China is the fastest-growing major economy in the world, and has had the fastest growing major economy for the past 30 years with an average annual GDP growth rate over 10%.

Nor does it not make China America's biggest lender.

The majority of Chinese people may be having Sh!t for dinner or piss for water (per capita income may be considered well below world standards) but it doesn't change the fact the the government of China is filthy rich wallowing in trade surpluses. They are communists remember!? The people don't matter...

This are facts you ***** and no I am not dreaming.

You should have minded yours first. I work with Taiwanese businessmen who have done or have business/es in China, and I have been there as a matter of fact neither as a tourist nor as an OFW.

You act as if you are the only authority on China. Now that is real douchebaggery, *****.
