i guess if we base it from that definition maybe it qualifies.

a hobby is an activity engaged in a leisurely manner and primarily for personal enrichment and pleasure. kung illegal activity, it can be more accurately described as vice not hobby...perhaps obsession.

good point but there are also people who are obsessed with their hobby, can we consider that as obsession and not a hobby anymore?

well technically it depends if you do harmless hacking/prank or do the opposite one which is already illegal...

i use hacking in everyday work, i needed to disect websites that i work see if it can be penetrated, and yet its not a hobby nor illegal....

IMO if one is obsessed there is no more pleasure nor relaxation derived from it because obsession or addiction makes you want more and more and if you do not get more....you get TENSE which is directly opposite of relaxation.
