Thumbs up NeWBiE HeRe: HoW CaN I TaKe GooD Pix from my SoNY CYBeRSHoT (DSC-W180)?

Hi to all photo enthusiasts and experts

I love taking pictures and had my first cam last Christmas. It's a Sony Cybershot DSC-W180. Can you please help me with some tips on how I can take good pictures with my cam? I still dunno how to adjust some settings on my cam for fear that I might break it (from experience, I'm such a klutz and end up breaking stuffs).

Are there any classes for this or do i really need to have a DSLR cam to come up wid great pix like the ones in pic threads? or sa photoshop lang ko mag rely?

Hope you can help me with this one..

Everything you need to know is in the manual, miss. Things break because we don't read manuals.

I read the manual, thank you But there are some points in the book that gets too technical for me. I am asking for any tricks in the trade.

What is it that you want to achieve using your camera. A sample image will help. And, from there, we can dissect the technical process involved in capturing it.

I thought maybe a lil tweaks in my cam would do the trick or am simply second guessing that it only takes a photoshop to make a pic outstanding... i'm shooting blanks here being that i just started loving this art.

Yes, Photoshop is a tool which most photographers are tending to use more often nowadays. I am not a fan of Photoshop as it tends to complicate matters in "post-processing" one's image. I use Adobe Lightroom, similar to Photoshop however, targeted towards photographers. It's easy and straight to the point

The ISO is a property of the sensor (film for analog) how fast it reacts to light. Meaning, ISO 100-400 has a slow exposure rate, and is not ideal for low light situations and a burst of light from the flash is necessary to get the correct exposure, at least. ISO over 400 works well in dim places but in exchange for a grainy image.

However, the camera can do the math exposure for you, set the ISO to Auto and the camera will select which is ISO setting is ideal for a particular light situation.
