I have searched the forum about barf, but nothing came out, if there is an existing thread like this, please close na lng mga mods.

Can anyone enlighten me with BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods). What are its advantages and disadvantages on our dogs. I know there is a lot information on the net regarding this, but I want to know from the persons who experienced this, especially here in cebu.

My dogs (pit bulls) are on the BARF diet. They are doing excellent. Their weight is being maintained from 55 to 61 pounds and their coat is great. From the first day I gave it to them, they love it. Among all three I give them 2.1 - 2.5 kilos of meat (chicken backs or necks which I buy from Robinson for 55 pesos per kilo) and mix raw vegetables which I buy from Carbon for a very reasonable price. I add about 1/2 of white rice each dog. I also supplement with cod liver oil and vitamin c for each meal.

I do throw the raw meat in boiling water for 3 minutes and add about 4 kalamsi to kill the bacteria.

It was my vet who recommended the BARF diet and it took me three months before I finally listened to him. I am glad I did because the dogs' health is so much better. He told me that his patients that are on BARf have less health problems and see him less often.

amen to this every dog i rescued i always barf feed them and give them dog food when they are already huge and fully recovered

@bullybreedlover: ahh mao ba sir, i have a pitbull man gud, nya from what i searched on the net, kung mag barf ka ma lessen ang skin problems sa imong pit, mao nga naghimo ko ani nga thread to attest kung tinood ba jud maka lessen cya ug mga skin allergies sa pit bull, sa imong case bro, na lessen ang skin allergies sa imong pit?

barf really will help a lot f naa skin allergy imo dogs..

why? because barf feeding has no corn or soya or any protein/fat replacements that are present in most of the dog foods.

its a natural food for the dog that has not been treated with chemicals or enhancers..

its balanced and nutritious.

mao gyud ni sya ang gina eat sa dogs in the wild

What is the current weight of your pit bull? For my 61 lb. apbt, I give him 3/4th of a kilo per day of raw meat. When I give him chicken backs, that is about 2 to 2 1/2 backs...depending on the size of the chicken backs each meal. I also give them baticulon, kabao meat if I find some in carbon which is very good for them, ground beef or pork kung on sale, tripe (the innards of the cow), liver (vet said approx once a month), and I do mix yogurt (which you can make home made which is so much cheaper) at least three times a week, especially for my apbt who has head tremors (typical for bully breeds) when he doesn't get more calcium. The yogurt is also good for their intestines and for antibodies.
