    Default network patch cable

when i reviews this site: http://www.incentre.net/incentre/frame/ethernet.html some part of the bottom says

If you require a cable to connect two Ethernet devices directly together without a hub or when you connect two hubs together, you will need to use a Crossover cable instead.

but what i did in my previous setup i use straight-through patch cable from hub-to-hub.

btw, can someone clear things for me about HUB and SWITCHES? are they the same? BOOKS says SWITCH is smarter than HUB when it work in packet sending...blah..blah and some guys says

    ANO GAMIT MO? SWITCH-HUB?

    or it should be mean:

ANO GAMIT MO? SWITCH or HUB?

Some Switch-hub has the feature of auto MDI/MDIX. With this, you wont worry about straight or crossover cable.

in my own understanding and experience.. straight cable is being use connecting to different network devices. like for example:

    computer to switch

    computer to router

    computer to dsl modem

then crosscable connection is used for connecting the same network devices.

    ex.

    computer to computer

    switch to switch

    hub to hub

but as technology is concern daghan ng updates nahitabo.. basa nalang ka sa manual sa availabe features sa anang particular device kong unsay cable gi gamit.. it can be straight or it can be cross..

HUB - a hub is like a multi port repeater, Data is being broadcast to all pc before its reached to the recipient..

so kong HUB imong gamiton ang transfer sa imong data mo pass una tanang port or pc before mo abot sa pc nga nag send og data or nag request og data....

SWITCH - a full duplex connection and mixed enviorment, data send directly to the recipient..

try to google nalang for more info.. ...

basta sa akong side kaning hub kong kusog gali ang usage mo hung jud na sya.. kinahanglan pa i reset samot nag baratohon.. kong mag dungan jud gamit ang tanang naka tuslok sa imong hub.. mo hang jud sya.. kay ang mura ra mana sya og repeater.. na-ay collision bahh kay i broadcast ra man na niya ang whole connection wa syay paki alam....

then ang switch na-a na silay gi tawag og CAM ( chanell acces method) iya ng i store imong mac address so if mo browse ka or mo request kag data automatic deritso ddto sa imong computer ang data using ananng CAM technology...daghan pa na sya og features like kong kusog ang usage gali.. or collision iya ra pod na i manage until nga mo normal.. for example kong mag dungan browse tanan... so grabe jud ka traffic ana.. kong sa karsada pa na.. kong mamatay ang signal light.. pwerteng gubota jud.. sa switch iya pod ng i manage.. sama og traffic enforcer bahh hinay2x pa lutson tong mga sakyanan.. deli lang na nato ma bantayan tungod sa ka kusog sa connection.. pero kong nahan jud mag experment.. try using hub and using switch and tan awa kong unsay kala inan sa duha..
