Just read some stories in Google News, and I'm stunned that The Hurt Locker got as many nominations as Avatar.

I've watched The Hurt Locker like last year, and it amazing to see it go head to head with a monster hit like Avatar. Have not seen Avatar myself though.

As a side show its a battle of the exes Avatar's director and The Hurt Lockers's director were married a few decades ago, but split about 2 years into the marriage.

    Best Picture - Avatar
Best Direction - The Hurt Locker
Actor - George Clooney (But I think Jeff Bridges might sneak in)
Actress - Meryl Streep (Sandra Bullock might sneak in)
Supporting Actor - Christoph Waltz (I would be disappointed if he didn't win this, he was great in Basterds).
    Supporting Actress - Mo'nique
    Animated - Up
Adapted Screenplay - Up in the Air
Original Screenplay - either The Hurt Locker or A Serious Man

I refuse to believe that The Blind Side was better than Star Trek or Moon. The actor for District 9 should've been nominated. And 2 nominations for The Princess and the Frog in the Best original song but none from Where the Wild Things Are or New Moon? (I hate New Moon like no other but the movie has an amazing soundtrack).

    Myself personally I'm rooting for...

Best Picture: Inglourious Basterds or Up in the Air
Best Director: Quentin Tarantino or Jason Reitman
    Best Actor: George Clooney
Best Actress: Sandra Bullock (wouldn't it be funny if she also wins the Razzies for that other movie she got nominated)
Best Actor Supporting Role: Stanley Tucci or Christoph Waltz
Best Actress Supporting Role: I'll be happy to see any of the 'Up in the Air' chicks to win

The biggest surprise to me this year was for District 9 to get nominated for Best Picture. Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed the film, but I was expecting the Oscars to give it a pass. Good for them anyway. And I do agree with you 'blur', the South African actor from D9 should have got nominated also.

Gabourey Sidibe in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”
    First movie, Oscar nomination dayon..

I'll have my predictions after I watch all of the nominated movies.. "Up" & "District 9" pa jud akong nakit-an.

Wala pa jud na-nominate si Wikus (Sharlto Copley).
