i like nike because they employ little chinese kids to make their shoes hahahaha jk...
actually the major shoe companies all have factories in china/asia....
As far as durability issues...both brands are durable, just depends on how you use em. It doesn't make sense if you use a basketball shoe that is designed for indoors yet you'll use for streetball play where it takes a lot more punishment.
nike in terms of innovation is more advance and more hi-tec compared to its counterparts, i agree with that... Nike is popular because of one man, that is Michael Jordan. Sad to say, Jordan himself was very dismay when he found out those nike sweatshops in china. If theyre really the best, then i think they should have the proper factories and facilities that would treat thier workers humanely. I prefer to choose adidas, coz its made by happy workers.
each to his own... also geography plays a role.... here in the phils it's nike because we're a predominantly basketball country... we always look up to americans (sorry to hear)... if you ever go to europe or south america, or anywhere else, you'll be surprised that other brands (diadora, kappa, umbro) are equally good and also technologically competetive with all the major brands...
mixed....nike on shoes...adidas for apparel
basta looks cool both brands are fine ofr me :0
1. Actually the irony is that Nike is spending more in fighting sweatshops. Ultimately it's up to the gov'ts of their subcontracted factories to enforce humane working conditions. No matter how much each brand tries to their part in making things better, if the owners of the subcons are unscrupulous and just wants to make money and just wants to make a false good front at first when the brands are looking and backed up with an equally unscrupolous gov't, then there is nothing much they (the brands) can do.
2. It wasn't only Jordan who made nike popular...although he did make a big imapact...don;t forget Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi, Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, Michael Johnson, John Mcenroe.
3. No offense but it's amusing that you choose adidas because of the happy worker fallacy. Besides I'm not going to deliberately hurt my feet jsut because the happy sub-con workers made a shoe with inferior tech compared to their competitors wth not very happy sub con-workers...I don't see the logic.
4. Umbro...kappa and diadora equally technologically competitive??.....
Ok let's take Umbro's XAI XIV Boot It has:
* Ceramic K Leather
* Wishbone Technology
* Ergonomically placed tongue...
Now let's take Nike's Air Zoom Total III SG
* Upper features soft, ultra-lightweight KNG-100
* Asymmetrical, integrated lacing system eliminates internal layers for optimal fit and touch.
* Contoured heel and external heel counter mirror the anatomical last providing stability, fit and comfort.
* New Nike injected Phylon midsole allows optimal comfort, while greatly reducing stud pressure.
* Heel Zoom Air unit enhances cushioning.
* High-tech pre-molded sockliner features forefoot and heel Poron inserts for added protection.
* New SG plate offers ultimate traction and stud pressure reduction with detachable studs.
* Innovative spinal structural bars provide great support, motion control and stability.
need I say more? Now you must be wondering why I know all these...no I don't work for Nike but I used to be a sneaker freak and a basketball freak too. I play ball on a weekly basis...over the years I was fortunate to try outa lot of brands but based on performance and looks...nike beats everything else hands down and as I said before....I never had a sprained ankle with a Nike basketball shoe.
