@badme... there is a least one venomous snake in the Phils which looks similar to the wolfsnake (which does tend to exhibit some variance of coloration) so sometimes behavior can be a help with identification. Wolf snakes are nocturnal and you will normally only see them mobile at night. During the day I have frequently found them sleeping under rocks. They will try to hide their heads under their body when they feel threatened. A larger specimen may try to bite, but generally only if very much provoked and often just as a bluff.
Their normal prey items would be small lizards or rodents. Prey is usually small because these snakes have no venom and are not efficient constrictors meaning than they need to be able to overpower their meal without too much effort.
