trailer pa gani!
must see this one!
I'm a bit underwhelmed with the movie actually. Don't get me wrong, it's not that bad (as some critics are saying), but when you have Peter Jackson on the director's chair, you kinda expect a bit more and I found The Lovely Bones just didn't quite deliver.
When it comes to it's cast, Stanley Tucci was great as the bad guy, Mark Wahlberg was ok, but both Rachel Weisz and Susan Sarandon were underused. The CG for the heaven scenes was a bit distracting as well and somehow ruined the emotional punch it was trying to make (it even reminded me of What Dreams May Come which is not a good thing).
I'll be honest I haven't read the book so maybe that's my problem I don't know. Overall though, 2.5 out of 5 for me.
Viewers and critics had reactions of disappointment or confusion when they saw some of Steven Spielberg's more dramatic and sentinmental films. Empire of the Sun was released at a time when Spielberg established himself as a blockbuster director.
I am not surprised to see people react that way to The Lovely Bones, given the fact that Jackson directed the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and King Kong, all of which were popular adventures.
I have admired Peter Jackson waaay before he did LOTR and have always enjoyed his work. Except for this one though. Again, I'm not saying The Lovely Bones is an utterly rubbish film, just average for me. This could have been something, but maybe PJ is just a little bit distracted these days with his work with WETA, producing, and doing other things. I don't know, I could be wrong.
