I've been looking at teleconverters in the hopes of using it on my 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 non-IS USM II. And as some might guess it is for stalking birds. No not the ones in the minds of those with greener pastures but those birds that hide away in forests and fly upon excitement and surprise. Still please keep this thread.. well, ermm innocent.
I love birds, and I feel limited with my 300 mm. I was initially discouraged with the teleconverters sold at 15K since it's way beyond my monetary limits. So now I come upon this product offered by a friend.

Questions:
Any of you familiar with this?
Can someone tell me more about teleconverters?
Do you really NEED an f/#L lens to enjoy the power of a teleconverter?
How does the magnification work? It says at 2.0X so does that mean my telephoto lens will be 600mm?
Thanks in advance mga masters
