im planning to collect die-cast models of cars, any tips on how to get started??

Really depends on you. Plenty of choices:
- Scale: 1:64, 1:43, 1:18
- lines: modern, sportcars, old school, classic, antique
- brands: HW, MB, JL, siku, auto art, etc...
some collects anything that comes in pink!
others just Hummers or Beetle

That being said, sometimes when you start collecting you tend to get everything you fancy. Then later you tend to focus on one line or some have sidelines. Some factors that may influence your choice: economics (how deep is your pocket), availability (plenty of toys in the local stores?) and esthetics (simply what catches your eye). You may have to decide on what you want to do with your collections... display, take them out of the box, collect them boxed (unopened), etc...

Bottom line...all depends on you.

btw.. unsa ang mka catch sa imong atention daun kana maoy i colect... para naa jd ka gana mu colek.. kay if d nimo typ ang imo mga gpang colek.. it will end up unattended..or maguba pr maunsa pa... b sure nga kung unsa jd imong ganahan..mao i colek ug una.. kadugayan ana.. ma inlove nman pd kag lain toy or merchandise.. so.. managhan imong coleksyon....

tip nako kai pag andam jud sa imung bulsa..expensive kaau ni cya nga hobby..mostly tag 1K each unless kanang mga gagmay imu palitun.. good luck sa pag collect!

^^^ btw bro... b rdy with budgets.... hehe kasagaran ... like me... start with small collections lng ug kana mga barato lng... now... as the craving rises up and the nice ones are coming in... mas nahan ka ug mas ma tempt na mukuha ana nga butang... bisag unsa ka mahal bsta like nimo..

great point shared by everyone and as ponso01 stated, there are a lot of things that you have to consider.

to get you started, ask yourself what kind of car do you want to collect. It helps while your starting to narrow down your choices. Why does it help? In the long run, you wont be blasting out all of your cash on different models and then later on concentrate on just one. So earlier on, do start to consider your "mainline" as "side collects" will come next.

i.e. mainly i collect mustangs but since then, i have a side collect of haulers. my gf mainly collects volkswagens with a sideline of minis.

next is you have to consider scale size. if you go for lighter on the pockets (cheaper), go for 1:64 or 1:43 as it will save you both on money and space. if you have the eye for detail, go for 1:18's or some of the more expensive 1:43 and 1:24s.

i will be honest with you, it will hurt your finances in the long run but as one hobbyist also puts it, her collection is priceless. just dont go blast it all out in one buy. so that i say to you, at the end of the day, if you have a passion for cars, collecting cars that is, money is no object to you.
