ive handled both canon, sony, casio, panasonic, and fuji. top 2 are in order 1. canon. 2.casio
sony is overrated and cant take the slightest abuse
canon hands down is quality of photos(i was using and sd500). if youve got the money buy canon
casio. i have a z57 model point and shoot and trust me it gets the job done. ive dropped this camera more times than i can remember and spilled fluids on it, i dont want to even know(mostly beer and some sort of alcohol in shotglass form), yet it still keep taking photos. my friends older model was dropped in the jacuzzi(99 degrees fahrenheit+ temp) in our univrsity. gave it i think 4-5 days to dry. put the sd card and battery back in. the camera like for some reason formatted everything but it still took photos like it was brand new, no flaws on the zooming or other functions the camera came with. casio is meant to take a beating and keep clicking
panasonic. pictures were a bit blurry and the load up time ive noticed of all the cameras that my japanese friends have are really horrible. took almost 2-3 seconds before next image loaded up.
fuji. not bad atually its features arent up there though compared to canon or casio or other brands ive mentioned. my pet peeve is the really slim fuji camera they have been selling since last year. always blurry for my friends and i. and the functions are too damn teechnical
sony. im not hating on sony, but they need to stick to making tv's and not overpriced cameras that stop functioning the moment it get dropped. buy it for the name, dont buy it for the quality/durability like others ive mentioned.

all of the cameras i have used and discussed here are point and shoot type, not SLR, pro level material. besides who wants to carry a canon slr to a bar or some party or gathering/social event with friends. i want something thatll fit in my pocket and can take a beating and stillt ake good quality photos without compensating ofr the bulk.

anybody who is doubting my opinion feel free to ask for photos ive taken with my casio, ill be more than glad to show u examples. i also have examples from my sony digital camera. canon and fuji i may also have, it'd be stored deep somewhere in my hard drive though.

naa mi Canon DC20... nindot man.. di lang jud pang artistic photography.. pero pang home videos/pictures nindot kaayo.. gamay pa jud.. mahal lang.. :P

I had a powershot a510 and i upgraded to an ixus 55..
mu suggest ko ani ixus 55 ky slim, 5 megapix, 2.5" lcd... nice na kaayo.. although naay mga bago nga ixus nigawas sa canon like ixus 60, 65, and 800is (with image slabilizer)

Naa pudkoy friends nga gagamit ug sony dsc p200 man siguro to. What i've noticed is that mas vibrant jud and colors sa canon, mura jud alive kaayo samot na if plants ang gi picturan. Ang canon pud, daghan options while ang sony more on point and shoot ra. Pero naay disadvantage ako na bantayan sa canon, mas prone cya to red-eye than sony during low light conditions bisan ga on iya red eye reduction lamp.. pero sayon rapud cya i-edit out sa pc, so mawala ra ang red-eye effect.
