One can't even take a good shot of all the planets in the solar system in case of a true alignment, what more this event.
The reason most of you make these mistakes is because you simply don't have an idea of the scale/scope of the solar system and the rest of the universe. A good starting point is downloading Celestia...
Celestia: Home
completely free and will totally make you realize how vast interplanetary, intersellar and intergalactic space really is.

ah mao diay nang galactic alignment base sa picture sa TS above.... so sun, earth, and moon ra diay...hehehehe......mura wa man jud nay epek sa earth....
and also, murag ang gravity sa planets (bending of fabric of space) kay dili man ma-add ang strength cguro.
..pero makita lang na ang tinuod inig abot sa anang adlawa... kung naay mahitabo aw tinuod, perog wala aw dili tinuod...hehehehe..
mao2x ra ni sa katong eclipse lage this year nga magcause daw nga madisrupt ang tectonic plates sa earth which will result in great tsunami,... pero hain naman?

this phenomenon must hav had already happened alot of times for the last billions of years.
there were mass instinction before , but i dun think those was related to the alignment.
@rodsky: the difference between the mathematics of this galactic alignment and what will actually happen is similar to the difference between measuring the length of a marathon and actually running it.
so what are you suggesting? we abandon all our knowledge and stick to human intuition?
Side-note: In state of the art technology, nobody will give you funding to build your device (whatever it is), it you haven't simulated everything and proved with detailed calculation that your device will work.
As what I've read, and as what hizuka007 said, if the alignment just involves the Earth, moon and Sun (if it does happen), its really no big deal. As sir rodsky pointed out, the gravitational effects are just to weak for anything to be felt.
If, however, the entire solar system would come to an alignment with itself, (all planets aligning to one line), then that has a better chance of affecting our planet than a galactic alignment.
If this were true, Airbus pilots from airlines around the world are wasting millions of dollars on Level D flight simulators so they can fly the real thing. Contrary to your belief, when you plug the numbers in, the numbers do work.
But yes, there are no numerals in existence to factor in your pessimism.
