Ok, if you're going to post that it's a hoax, put some more effort into it and read the hoax pages themselves. The Postcard from Hallmark hoax includes a link to a Snopes article which is worded in such a way that it appears the hoax warning is legitimate (something about being the worst ever virus, etc...) Even the About.com Urban Legend site says "What has been verified on Snopes.com is a different e-card virus threat with a similar name." But that does NOT mean this is not a legitimate viral threat.
For example, I have received 2 emails in the past 4 days-both with "You've received A Hallmark E-Card!" as a subject and emailed from postcards@hallmark.com. The email has an attachment called "postcard.zip". Both zip files have an exe file that is a virus. This is different than the hoax. The two emails I received came with Hallmark graphics (linked to http://www.hallmark.com/wcsstore/Hal.../gnav_logo.gif) and all the links go back to Hallmark. However, the attachment is still viral.
This is a transcript of what I received:
**********
You have recieved A Hallmark E-Card.
Hello!
You have recieved a Hallmark E-Card from your friend.
To see it, check the attachment.
There's something special about that E-Card feeling. We invite you to make a friend's day and send one.
Hope to see you soon,
Your friends at Hallmark

So just remember that part of the hoax is that the email you receive is about the virus. The real one seems to be from the Hallmark website.

Security Alert - Virus Emails - You've received A Hallmark E-Card! - Computing Services - Carnegie Mellon University
'You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'Postcard from Hallmark', regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens a postcard image, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C drive of your computer. If you get one, Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. dis virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and der s no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept...'
this is what i am referring to as a hoax. who would believe this kind of trash? come on, who spells hard disk with a 'c'?
@treize:
read the snopes.com link completely before concluding anything, ok? the message quoted by the TS is the hoax.
