Now I understand your point and the differentiation shows of what is a good programmer and what is MATH means to you. That’s why I stated from the previous post, regarding the commonly use MATH in programming such as, ALGEBRA, TRIGONOMETRY, ARITHMETIC, and COMPUTER MATH. Which is no need to go deeper, None of these I emphasize, bcoz we Humans understand this instantly; we just need to add some common sense. These kind of Math are part of human instinct, we can understand this easily, as this involve in our everyday life.

Instead, I stress out the MATH in some fields that are use in motion programming, 3d geometric programming, concurrent forces, naval fields etc… that this is not required for every one of us here, particularly if you will be doing some programming, not unless you will going to step another boundary where some particular MATH resides.

If somebody asks you to develop and program a Phone Directory, There is no Math required. Again, Math that I stress out, not the MATH which we already have from everyday experiences.

Lemme insert this from my previous post:

Is it true nga good ka in math, good pud ka sa programming?

    Literally understood… NO.

    - Everybody can learn math without the presence of programming.
    - Everybody can learn programming without the use of medium-to-advance Math, and with just a middle-range LOGIC.
But then again, it depends upon the TARGET, the line of business you are INTO…
other than that, you have to SPECIFY what kind of MATH you are talking. and What kind of PROGRAMMING involved, inorder not to break the TOPIC.

i see.. those that you mention are engineering fields.. of course, if your program requires those, then you need to learn the engineering mathematics behind those. lahi ra man ang approach sa math gud when it comes to engineering.. lemme guess, engineering imong undergrad course noh?

hehe.. okay.. i get your point.. math in the way I have described it is the pure math.. kanang algebra (including matrices), trigonometry, statistics, geometry, mathematical logic, etc.. even calculus kung pwede i-apil.. naa pa sab for really advanced applications in computer science, you'd need graph theory, topology, ug number theory..

if you're good in these MATH, then you'd definitely be good at programming..

but anyway, learning the engineering math above isn't so hard anymore once you have a very solid foundation of analytic geometry, theoretical calculus (real analysis), and differential equations..

    stupid comments IMO.

if you are good of something doesnt mean you are automatically good on something.

You have to work on it.

If you are good of Math it's not automatically you are good in chess or programming.

the keyword is you need to work hard, focus on subject within your life time.

    nonsense!!!!!!
Yeah right, this argument becomes nonsense. Everybody is right already. Everyone's opinions are right, and I see no wrong about it.

So I just shout..... NONSENSE!!!!!!! hahahahahahaha

Well if this has reached 5 pages of what you say "Non-Sense" then this must be a good argument

IMO, fair in math makes a programmer, good in math makes a better programmer... genius in math is my Math teacher.

Very nice topic... Everyone had their points, and everyone is right based on their own perspective.

IMO... I think the common denominator between the two of them (Math & Programming) is your analytical skills.

hough not big, but we are in the business for 50 years
Wow.... business in 50 years? hmmm... since 1959 @_@ what kind of IT business is this? I don't khow if you agree but computers hitted in Philippines around 80''s-90's, only those big fortunate company can buy that time. but yours since 1959? if my memory serves me right, microprocessor appeared early 1970's., Integrated IC's early 1960's. We know that philippines belongs to a third world countries, how could we have such kind of technology that time?

Then nag evolve ang application systems, from cobol, they went to clipper ---> clipper --> PHP+AJAX, and everything else right now is web based na ang roadmap... All are in-house developed, with 4 programmers, 1 systems analyst and 1 Database Admin.

Heheheehehe, sorry for the lacking infos above... Heheheehe, btaw bro, we started 1953, and we are in Industrial and Medical Gas Manufacturing. Hahahaha and everything that time is "Paper","Pencils and Pens", & type writers.... Hhehehehehehehe
    that's not an IT business..
