I think you have it backwards. The authority and validity of the teachings of the Church do not come from the Bible. The authority of the Bible comes from the Church since it was the Church that determined what books should be part of the Bible in the first place.

The early Christians had no Bible. So what were they supposed to follow? Well, the followed the Church!

The Catholic Church eventually wrote things down and collected the older Hebrew scriptures (which Jesus used, by the way). After some time, it declared that certain books were Inspired and collected them into the Bible. So without the Catholic Church there would be no Bible.

Another thing... one of the main rules used to determine what should go intot he Bible was CONSISTENCY WITH CHURCH DOCTRINE. In other words, the books in the Bible had to conform to Catholic teaching before it was put included as part of the Bible. So obviously, the Bible is an AFFIRMATION of Catholic doctrine.

This sarcastic post commits the following logical fallacy: A STRAWMAN argument.

Since you cannot really substantiate your claims or refute our arguments, you try to make a caricature of our arguments, putting absurd claims into our mouths like "the inquisition never happened" or some other inaccurate or false statement. And the you use it to attack us.

    That is dishonest.

By the way, you also make an ad hominem argument. That's a logical error and proves none of your claims. In fact, it proves nothing. But it does show you do not have any rational arguments to back up your claims.

Then why make a comment like that when you will not substantiate your claims? What good does it contribute to the discussion?

In fact, why make a comment like that at all? Are you telling us that this is all you can be for all posterity?

Please let us make a civilized and educated presentation of each of our cases.

I never intended it to be sarcasm. Simple truth.

You tell me to substantiate and when anyone "substantiates", you tell your own version of it. History. History. History. I am not going through this stupid discussion again with Jesus freaks. This has been discussed at iSTORYA (coincidentally by the same members) before many times over and the result is the same ... I find myself more stupid than when I came in.

Mosimos, I never could have agreed more on your fist sentence...I mean that's exactly what it is but until you say that Christ is a catholic. If by chance you mean "Roman Catholic" then you are dead wrong. First, Christ is a Jew. Second the word "catholic" means "universal" as what it means in the apostoles prayer. So don't take it like Christ was and is a "Roman Catholic" coz that would spell as blasphemy.
