Philippines is better off as itself than being a communist country. People say that countries labeled as "communist", are not really communist because they have deviated from the ideal communism. Maybe its because it is impossible to attain such level? or its a product of imagination from a certain poor fellow,aka Karl Marz, who never achieved much in a capitalist society and that's why no communism can be perfectly replicated? Anyway, the point is not so much as the form of government, but the people that comprise the country. As a democratic country, i am pleased that everyone can attain any level in life proportional with their dreams, hardwork and dedication. What makes a democratic country unfortunate? The people. If the people are lazy, cheapskate free loaders (in life and in mental state), then it is hard for that country to progress, probably because people would constantly depend on tyrant politicians who can give them free food (garbage) and will vote for these politicians over and over again. The names may change but the kind of politicians hardly ever change for the better.

With the present lineup of presidential candidates and the same faces in Philippine politics I am tempted to toy on the idea that this country deserve a second look at communism or socialism
