Default Working the Light: A Landscape Diary

I have been always fascinated by how light works around us. Most especially in Landscape Photography, light is very essential. It has always been our brush on how we paint our land. Seeing and feeling nature with key elements – light, composition and emotion – helps me see what makes it dynamic in every scene. The magic of vision (pre-creating the scene before taking taking it) invigorates my spirit on how to convey what you see to your audience.

I would like to share some of my captures of light and land this year. ..

    Gates to Heaven (Silay City)

The seastack of old port makes this place very interesting. It consist of a long range of port wreck about 1-2 kms from the coast. We didn't bother much to see what's beyond because of the shells scattered in the sea which makes it very dangerous to walk around. I can clearly remember two of my colleagues wounded while exploring the coast. One has to walk barefooted to move comfortable around. One challenge of landscape photography is to see what's beyond and be ready to take risks.

    Throne of Silence (Camiguin)

    Seasoned Light (Zambales)

Anawangin, one of our dream shoots, captivates us with good weather and shaky waves despite Typhoon Feria passed by a day before we finally decided we'll push thru. A week of monitoring the weather, we decided hours before our flight to manila, Lemeul (my photo buddy), had so much faith on this trip.

The place is amazing, as a perfect playground to practice our landscape skills, it never fails to give us good light. As after storm weather gave us emotions and dynamism we need to capture it's beauty.

For a serious landscape photographer, golden hour would be sunrise and sunset. It is when the best light comes into play, which you can work on painting the land.. .. more to come... .thanks for visiting. ..
