gamit kaayo ning hyperfocal distance if gusto ka mag-"shoot at your hip". kanang dili na motan-aw
sa viewfinder. kabantay man guro mo anang "distance scale" nga naa sa babaw sa ubang lens.
mao nay gamit ana. like from 3 meters to infinity kay focused. hehe medyo libog pa pud ko ani
kay wala distance scale akong mga lens.

(gikan ni cmontoya tanang nakat-onan nko. hehe)

yes, this is very right. but this is intended to landscapes shooting when using large aperture. some photographers cannot bring tripods along when shooting landscapes on a very cloudy, hazy, or dusk. configuring the camera to smaller aperture (assuming the photographer know the sweet spot of his/her camera for edge-to-edge sharpness) at these moments will compromise the shutter speed so eventually forced to come up with a bigger hole for better exposure. since we all know that bigger aperture will give smaller depth of field, it is likely the landscape shot would be lousy if just framing up directly and pressing the shutter. circle of confusion is also another factor here aside from hyperfocal distance aspect. one needs to analyze first which area of the landscape is more interesting and need to be more focused. human eye normally cannot see or confuse in this focused area and distance using only the lcd or viewfinder so one needs to be mindful when using smaller holes. but for portrait shots, hyperfocal distance helps in contrasting the foreground and the background, or shall i say boosting up the presentation of the intended subject within the frame. it is very important that the photographer should know the sweet spot and the minimum distance focusing capability of his/her camera and lens; these two are the key here.

and yes, gamit dyud nang hypefocal distance specially to photojournalists nga mag shoot derederecho lang, and to a very high or very low angle without looking and cannot look anymore into the viewfinder to catch-up the climax moment of their subject.

thanks master arisar for bringing this up =)
