Unhappy Is this it for A.I?

    Is this it for A.I?
    NBA.com: Tea time reading

The only thing left now for the Answer are questions.

Is Allen Iverson really ready to call it a career? Is he going to let a few minutes of spotty action for the Memphis Grizzlies serve as the closing credits for one of the most magnificently perplexing careers in NBA history?

Iverson and the Grizzlies parted ways Monday, and that's probably a good thing. Salvaging his tarnished reputation at this point is next to impossible considering the way he departed the big stage - the Grizzlies and Iverson came to a "mutual agreement" to terminate the one-year, $3.1 million deal he signed in September.

This after he spent 10 days away from the team on leave for personal reasons. A road-weary 34, Iverson simply is not the same player he once was. All those nights of tossing his body into a sea of giants has taken a toll. That lightning quick crossover dribble he used to mesmerize fans and destroy opponents for so long is no more.

Iverson demanded that he start for the Grizzlies and then he made a stink about it when he didn't. Even a 10-time All-Star, and former league Most Valuable Player and scoring champ has to acknowledge when it's over, or close to it. Iverson could not. He never even played a home game for the Grizzlies.

But as always, someone is sure to come calling. Even with all of the teams that have already come out and denied any interest in exploring the possibilities of adding an aging and enigmatic, future Hall of Famer to their ranks.

Three teams that might take the plunge:

    1. Knicks: Donnie Walsh has already confirmed that he'll look into it. They don't have anything to lose.

    2. Nets: Something must be done to stir things up before the free agent summer frenzy kicks off.

    3. Bobcats: Though they've already denied any interest, the Larry Brown-AI link remains.

    >>naa paba kahay mokuha aning 34 yr old NBA veteran..hehe.. what's in your mind guys?..

Walsh explains Knicks' pass on Iverson

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Allen Iverson will not be the answer for the New York Knicks, who decided bringing the four-time NBA scoring champion aboard would be at odds with the franchise's long-term rebuilding plans.

The decision was reached late Thursday night after discussions among team president Donnie Walsh, coach Mike D'Antoni and owner James Dolan.

"It did get interesting for a while because Allen's a great player and has always been a great player," Walsh said Friday. "You're 1-9 and you're thinking, 'We've got to get some help in here.' But when we rethought it and I talked to Mike and he talked to me, we feel that could hurt our development of the future, and so we want to go the way we're going.

"There will be other things we can do during the year that will be more in line with what our philosophy has been entering into this. And I want to really make it clear that this has nothing to do with Iverson. He's a great player, I've always admired him. I think he'd be a great addition for a team that is in a different position than we're in, and I hope he gets picked up."

"We just didn't think we wanted to have that dominant force on the team right now," D'Antoni said.

The Lakers has always been about the TRIANGLE: that means A LOT of passing. Can you imagine AI in the triangle offense? It's like going to a wedding in your Freddie-Krueger-Halloween custom!
