master alu, i think this advantage your are opting to is for the macro/close-up filter, not with the reversing ring. if what you mean coupling two lenses using a coupler, image degradation is negligible to none due to the lens being tapped on is on high quality, unlike with macro/close-up filters, but vignetting is a common problem in coupling.

waaaaahh! master ka dyan^^ nabali na nuun^^
wow, you have the nikon micro lens diay, hmmm =) i believe that lens is also impressive in head shot portraits with bokeh! if you have time and if you are in cebu, hope you could join us in our macro shooting one day(galgal mode, hehehe).
thanks sa inyong mga tips.... excited baya ko bay og mag macro...pero ala diay jud ko intawn sa maung gadget da... well mouli man ko karong dec 19 hope maka kita ta ninyo b4 sa christmas bah.....
kanang inyong mga extension tube ala man pud na dire intawn sa singapore oi..... tagpila man ni sa pinas ang nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED AF-S VR?
AF is no use when doing macro (as for me lang ha) because as what you've said it gets messed up and is having a hard time focusing(by the time it focuses your subject has flown away)... MF is the way to go when doing macro (specially live ones)...
generic and kenko's loss the same amount of light(considering if pareha ang length nga imo mount sa imo lens)... the advantage of using kenko toobz is that hayag guihapon inig tan-aw nimo sa viewfinder versus the generic ones nga ngitngit, and ma control sad nimo imong aperture thru your camera versus the generic ones nga dili....yes,its hassle if one shall use prime lens since there is no adjustment of the close-up ratio. if ambient light is used(since in my experience, i always make my own light), this disadvantage is applicable to generic ones(although still the noise is quite negligible since most dslrs have great low light capabilities as we know) but if one shall use the higher cost extension tube with electronic contacts like the kenko, this is invalid already =)
I used MF only for bugs but sometimes I rely on the features on my D300's AF-C (Release+ Focus) feature pero sa mga flowers and static subjects I just use AF with the help of liveview and 51 focus points much easier. I am trying to use the features that the camera have.. Plus I like a degree of DOF preference lang nako and this method works for me.
Murag dli na ni sakto na thread to discuss Techniques in Macro. Last na ni na OT dli na ko motubag ha...hahahaha....
i think most hardcore macro shooters are using Manual Focus because they can play around with what they so called magic angle pretty much effectively with lesser effort.
moving subject or not, auto focus just happen not to work well in a higher level of percentage.
