    i agree rcruman is NOT bible contradictive ..

    but here's what I should say:

    the two main sources of faith are the Holy Bible and the Holy Christian Tradition. The latter part seems to be ignored by other religions because for them the Bible is enough. But try to consider the testimony of St. John, the Evangelist that the Bible cannot hold all that is of Christ. If it can hold all of Christ's marvelous works and teachings then the Bible should have been Christ himself! The bible is thinner as compared to the complete teachings of Christ that is why the Holy Spirit was sent to the apostles to direct them, to inspire them of God's salvific plan. Also, Christ and Mary has showed signs or even revealed themselves to the saints and venerables to affirm the works and dogmas of the Holy Fathers. Mary has appeared to Ven. Emmerich how the souls in purgatory are longing for our prayers.

    Bro, please site a verse in the bible or in the gospel of john that states "If it can hold all of Christ's marvelous works and teachings then the Bible should have been Christ himself!"

    where in the verses of the bible that "marvelous works and teachings"?

    let me post the verse:

    30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
    31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
    John 20:30-31

    could you please read it again, and tell to your conscience if John mentioned or written "marvelous works and teachings".

    Yes the latter part (Holy Christian Tradition) is being ignored by people follows Christ, because as being said and written:

    8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
    9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
    Galatians 1:8-9

    thus your bible (GOOD NEWS BIBLE) has this verses?

    then it is written:
    6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
    1 Corinthians 4:6

    1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
    2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us
    3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
    4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
    1 JOhn 1:1-4

    To all,
    read the verses, don't think that it came from me, just ignore me, read your bible.

    Yes the spirit of Christ, and He :

    10 Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
    11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
    12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
    1 Peter 1:10-12

    37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
    1 Corinthians 14:37

    but people turn to this:

    4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
    5 For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
    6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
    7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
    8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
    Colossians 2:4-8

    Peace!

    kung wala pa nag compile ug bible ang church, asa man mo kuha sa inyong pagtuo?

    I'm quite amazed by your response .. you seemed to have bombarded me with such verses ... but here's what i have to say: you read the bible with depth because there are underlying implications in them. Some people are trying to read them for how many times, sometimes, others go fasting and offer prayers so that they may be enlightened just as the saints in order to grasp fullness of meaning.

    i should expect that you should have pulled out your eyes or cut down your hands whenever you commit sin? if you don't believe that there are other sources of faith then fine .. stick it to it if that would be good for you and act now for your own salvation for it would be a matter of heaven or hell for you when you shall be taken away.

    now this shall be for Catholics:
    Though the Bible is the word of God and a light upon our feet, the mysteries of the Holy Trinity can not be forced to be filled in wholly in the bible because the mystery is beyond human text and our capacity to understand. (Remember the experience of St. Augustine about putting the whole ocean to a hole). That is why the Lord is making ways for revelation and part of which is the great inspiration of the saints and the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

    If purgatory does not exist, why then should Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary be wasting time to let those saints to see and feel what's going on with that place? Even if we are given absolution of our sins after confession, we still have the obligation to pay the consequences thereof that's why some forgiven souls are put in purgatory and to lessen their stay there, we are to offer them prayers.

    naa lang ko point out something dire ha..

    ngano naa virgin mary? dba christ said, "i am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father except thru me" ? this is another loophole sa teachings sa catholic.. kini si virgin mary.. wala baya sa bible nga religious figure ni siya..

    i believe the illusion of a virgin mary or madonna figure is another of satan's ploy... i think hes good at it.. naa pa gani hail mary, mother of God.. so are you saying she is above god coz she is the mother? ngano mo ampo pa man kang mary or the other saints? mao bitaw naa si christ para sa iya ra mo moampo.. petition? people power diay ni? so kanang mga tao nga walay niangkon nga kapamilya, ma imperno jud diay na sila kay wala may mo petition para nila..

    the virgin mary and the purgatory are just man made concepts.. inspired from the pagan beliefs assimilated into the catholic church...

    @AmorsoloX

    that's true that Jesus is the only way but Mary does not seek equivalence with him she knows where to stand and do not interpret her apparitions as something to oppose God's will. She has profound humility and does not seek any power. What she wants to be an instrument so that others would be saved.

    If you're not Catholic, don't argue anymore coz after all you will it hard to accept ..

    >>> I like Mary's obedience and love for God. She sacrificed something or many things just to be a mother of Jesus...But just like us, she's also human... Yes, she is someone who's worth remembering and be given value, but not as someone na God na dapat mag-pray jud sa iya...sakyan jud sa enemy ang paganism aiiii...... Grabeh jud ayu ang ENEMY! History tells us jud na ancient people were really into paganism na na pasa sa ato,,, na masulod na diha ang commercialization thing sa mga unsang klaseng items... Anyways, let's just do our best to 'walk our talk' If we claim na we believe Jesus,,,let others see it,,,We must strive to be not just hearers of the Word Sunday after Sunday, Saturday after Saturday, or some of us, even everyday...but DOERS jud!
