Are TV scriptwriters running out of ideas? All that we can watch now on TV are remakes of old movies and Pinoy adaptations of Koreanovelas. Can’t they think of new stories and original concepts—not rehash of old stuff?
These writers (as well as TV producers) owe it to their own audience to present something new. If they can’t come up with such, then it’s such a waste of good money that the network is paying them.
The problem with some writers, as well as TV producers, is that once a certain type of show clicks, they ride on its popularity and milk the genre dry. And if there’s program that becomes popular, the format is copied. Think of TV5’s “Talentadong Pinoy” which has spawned “Bitoy’s Showwwtime” on GMA 7 and “Showtime” on ABS-CBN.
We are fed up of recycled stories and so-called Pinoy versions of Koreanovelas as well as fantaseryes whose villains die, and resurrect then die and resurrect again.
Of course, there are some TV shows that are interesting to watch, but sad to say there are also quite a lot which are really boring.
