Default Intel Pentium DualCore or Not

    Intel Pentium 4 640 (3.2GHz)-2MB Cache
    Intel Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz) Dual Core

Im planning to buy a new PC.
im having difficulty deciding which one of the cpu...

Dual Core or the 3.2ghz 2mb cache?

the only review i read was on Tom's hardware where INTEL consumes more power.
I just want to know which is better?
2.8ghz Dual Core or the 3.2ghz 2mb cache?

do i need to buy 2 - 2.8ghz Dual Core to get its full potential?

f ur into performance get d dual core, f ur into cost-cutting get d scottie..hehe
    kidding aside..d 820 consumes 260w+ at peak and d p4 640 at almost 250w peak...

Dual-core refers to a CPU that includes two complete execution cores per physical processor. It has combined two processors and their caches and cache controllers onto a single integrated circuit (silicon chip). Dual-core processors are well-suited for multitasking environments because there are two complete execution cores instead of one, each with an independent interface to the frontside bus. Since each core has its own cache, the operating system has sufficient resources to handle most compute intensive tasks in parallel.

Multi-core is similar to dual-core in that it is an expansion to the dual-core technology which allows for more than two separate processors.

it boils down to what applications your using bro...

if ur into photoshop and designing, it would be best to use dual core coz dat s what it's 4...

Pentium D is a better buy for you bro. Pentium D 820 is a full pledge Dual Core Processor with 1mb L2 cache per core. Though both processors are capaple of SMT (Simultaneous MultiThreading) the Pentium D will be much faster in carrying out Multi Threaded applications than the P4 HT's which uses a logical CPU vs. Pentium D's physical core. But if you happened to find a Pentium D 9xx series it should be a better buy than the 8xx because of the addition of power saving feature (EnhanceStepSpeed), VT (Virtualization Technology), and much cooler based on 65nm.

yeah. 9xx series are almost x2 and 9xxEE are dual core Fx equivalents respectively. but offers newer technologies. if you can find one here in cbu.

with great cooling system, they are very over clockable.with significant performance gains.

and P D805 is an option. cheaper and very overclockable.

halos same price lang man ang dalawa.
how much is that 9xxEE? if 1-2thou ra difference -ok ra .
Im guessing 9xx series will cost about 16-20k

Will get 9xx series kung pasok sa budget.
Ok ra man cguro kung multi tasking sa 3.2ghz. it should not be noticeable cguro.

I am more interested in games.
i have 2.8ghz and 3.2 ghz here with the same specs, there is a huge difference in performance (sa games), i thought it was unnoticeable until games like battlefiend2, halflife2, doom3, Fear came.

i guess 3.2ghz 2mb cache is better for games...

Well if the purpose of this setup is mainly for games, then I suggest you better buy an AMD Athlon64 processor. P4 3.2 will eat dust compare to Athlons with lower clockspeeds when it comes to games.

I agree with marcus thats why what I built in my latest rig was and AMD setup and not the very hot 805... peace!

Anyways, sakto man pud sila if your not into gaming that much you'll be better off with 805 coz the power consumption will be equated pa for 4 years... so ok ra gihapon... mas init lang siya but can be oc'ed up to 4GHZ!!!

hehehehe... pero AMDroid man gud ko so wala ko nag In*tel... hehehehe...
