Default Pls recommend a good Gaming / HTPC setup

    Hi Guys,

I'm planning to build a gaming / htpc / internet pc around the ff components:

    1. Radeon HD 5770
    2. 42" LCD TV (1080p)
    3. Logitech Dinovo Mini KB/Mouse

Can anyone recommend a good setup and parts for the ff parts:

    4. Case - (preferably black and if naay VFD maayo)
    5. CPU, Board - (Quad core AMD setup)
    6. Ram (DDR3)
    7. TV Tuner (plan to connect the tv cable signal to this then the pc will drive the lcd tv via media center software)
    8. PSU

I have an idea na for the rest of the components...

    Thanks.

For the OS.. currently planning on Windows XP MCE pero if Windows 7 has something similar... better

Windows 7 Home Premium ang OS. you really need to shift away from Windows XP; less secure, no multi-threading, etc.

as for the case, naay name ang mga silverstone sugo series, if im not mistaken. for an AMD setup, gigabyte man tong last nako nakit-an nga review nice for HTPC setup (cannot recall what model )

Good Gaming/ HTPC means = a Little bit expensive

So Whats your estimated budget for the rig?

no multi-threading bro? hmmm, as far as i can recall, mo-support man multithreading ang XP.

"Windows XP includes simultaneous multithreading support. Simultaneous multithreading is a processor's ability to process more than one data thread at a time."

naa bay version ang Windows 7 similar to Win XP media center edition? Kanang naay GUI for Media Center use gyud a few feet away from the TV....

I want to treat it more of an appliance than a PC. (think of it like an XBox or PS3)

Good Gaming/ HTPC means = a Little bit expensive
doesn't have to be that expensive.... ok na ko with a quad core nga AMD setup then bisag unsa nga board nga pair niya... will use the HDMI connection man sad HD5770 to drive the TV. Will also use audio via HDMI.. the TV can carry the audio and a home theater receiver can break out the audio.

No budget in mind for this... as long as sakto ang mga parts... just cheap enough to do the task.

Kita ko sa Silverstone nga cases.. would like something with more display like a VFD sa front (para murag appliance look). The affordable ones dont have it .. unya the expensive ones are wayy to expensive ra sad and I don't need a 7" lcd screen on the case.

    AMD™ Phenom™ X4 9650 2.3 ghz 4x512kb Quad-Core Processor box (AM2+)
    Asus M4A78-VM
4GB RAM (any of the ff, corsair, gskill, team elite, kingston hyper x..etc..)

I just came back from vacation sa U.S.... based ko sa Cebu.

Other than the mga high end parts, di man kaayo dakog difference sa price of low-mid end components. The tax (9.75% in CA) and Recycling (E-Waste) Fee makes some items more expensive there than here.

    @VonTech,

No need to apologize bro.... I understood what you meant... sometimes people want this and that feature pero unreasonable budget.... sa ako-a, as long as good quality and value for money ang components.. then good enough to do the job and naay room for upgrade/expansion later on.

Since I'm setting this up from scratch, might as well go with an AM3 setup. Looks like Ill go with the Phenom II X4.

The WD Green is a good selection also for HTPC use. Its quiet, cool and is A LOT cheaper than SSD. Ill also need a lot of storage space for media files.

    THanks for the recommendations.

    @fineupgrades

Love the SST-MFP51B... didn't know Silverstone had such a product to supplement the cheaper HTPC cases.

Is there a place here in Cebu which has lots of Silverstone products on display? Would be great to see things up close.

    Thanks for the recommendations.
