NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office filed charges against 35 members of Tau Gamma Phi and Tau Gamma Sigma accused of killing a neophyte in August.

Charged with violation of Republic Act (RA0 8049, otherwise known as the Anti-Hazing Law, were Junavie Cagas, Dan Sayman, Edsil Basadre, Ricky Benagua, Ritchie Ryan Bodiongan, Rayburn Adante, Rolan Julius Titan, Aljon Almerol, Danny Milagrosa, Jeff Bryan Maquiling, Jacky Jay Masaling, Pablito Manco Jr., alias Karla Gonzales, Hermilo Mahumoc, Johnson Presente, Glenn Mark Tablate, JR Osais, Redel Realse, and another 17 unindentified members.

The victim, Carl Anthony Gaudicos, an 18-year-old Engineering student at Holy Cross of Davao College, died during initiation rites conducted by the fraternity members for those who want to join the group.

The incident happened around 1 p.m. on August 21 in Purok 4, Barangay Ilang, Bunawan District.

The suspects were charged based on the accounts of Nacar Sajari Kuhutan, 22, a resident of Barangay Ilang in Tibungco, the fraternity's deputy Grand Triskelion.

In an affidavit, Kuhutan said that around 8 a.m. on August 21, their grand triskelion Pablito Manco Jr. went to their house and informed him of the scheduled initiation for the Holy Cross chapter that will be conducted at their usual venue.

He said he just proceeded to the agreed venue.

After two hours, some 20 members from the Holy Cross chapter arrived, set the venue, and prepared food.

After lunch, he left and returned around 4 p.m.

He talked to the other members and was informed that a neophyte (Gaudicos) was unconscious.

While he was preparing food, he noticed a commotion and saw the victim groping for his breath while other members were trying to revive him.

He noticed that the victim could hardly move his body, was very pale and his nails purple.

He said they flagged down a taxicab and brought the victim to the hospital where he died while being treated.

    The suspects remain at large.

Im use to be a student at UC Banilad, nya kaning uban membro sa fraternity, usahay magpadako sa ulo, taas kaayo ang linya para sa elevator, ni singgit gyud siya sa atubangan, wala nalang mo palag ang iyang gi singitan pagkahibaw nga membro siya sa usa sa mga infamous fraternity here in cebu..

Fraternity leaders should implement rules sad intawn sa mga members nila. I think fraternity nowadays give more harm than good.

If that is the case, I respect your opinion...but there are no flaws on what I say or write. It is already public knowledge and I just give a little piece of my own "small" mind.

    God bless sa imo'ng lakaw...
