gud day guys!just wanted to post something with regards to the last dog walk made by the whole Philppines last march or april 2005.as i think the information as to the number of participants entered, that i voiced out to jude/jutai & sir dodong/dongkaka last dog expo @ the parkmall, was incorrect as compaired with my records.my apologies to you guys for posting sooner than i thought,as my records were here in davao, good thing akong nakitan karun hehehe!anyway, the said record breaking dogwalk was entiltled DOG WALK FOR A CAUSE,Luv ko c Bantay Project.spearheaded by the PCCI (under atty.byron san pedro's presidency at that time).it is considered a breakthrough in the entire archipelago with the hopeful thought that it will lead eventually to a massive information dissemination on proper care for dogs. The biggest number of participants came from manila followed by bulacan, laguna, cebu, general santos, iloilo, pampanga, quezon, bukidnon, zamboanga,s outhern mindanao, albay, bohol & baguio. The walk also aimed to break a world record set in england on june 20,2004.at that time, england registered 5,017dogs turning for the event.
in cebu the dogwalk was set at kawit island in SRP,with dra.utlang & us at the SWU-veterinary students spearheading the event in cooperation with the kennel club of cebu, inc.,purina alpo dogfood, dog palace, caminade, cvd among others.with councilor Alix supporting us all through out.but the unfortunate happen as to the time scheduled to start which is agreed @ 5:30 a.m but its started 7 or 7:30 & since its summer, and along the shorelines, heat was already very, very skin piercing much more to a dog who's covered with fur, as result the record breaking walk turned out to be a heart breaking incident as many dogs was stricken with heat (heat stroke).fortunately, the vets & the students were there to do first aid to the heated dogs.as per record, only one dog died out of the several dogs stricken with heat stroke-a young golden retriever owned,by i think, the limchua's.the great dane, the chow & several labs were saved.to everyone's astonishment an aspin entry was running along his marathon-participating owner from start to finish..barely unharmed & unaffected by the extreme heat

anyway, the dogwalk thru news in magazines & other portals, announced to the public that the turn-out of the dogwalk surpassed expectations-7,469 DOGS JOINED NATIONWIDE and walked more than the required distance of five kilometers.
The event was 8 weeks in preparation.in order to qualify for the Guinness Book of World Record, applicants are required to submit documentation evidence i.e. pictures, actual video footage, certified number of dog registrants, etc.
However, the Guinness entry is only incidental & our main focus was to create animal awareness in a COUNTRY FAMOUS for DOG-EATING & DOG FIGHTING.I am sure that the past undertaking will be an eye-opener to most,if not all, constituents and a learning experience to all
