i see. then thanks for the heads up. I'm really just after the practical knowledge and the thought process. But based from what you've said, i guess likay sa lang ko.... since i'm starting from the very basic of physics. hehe.

scientist on the house , free question .

whats ur view about god. ?

and from singularity theory. is the universe infinite. and that goes back to string theory. anyway.

in the near future there will be a huge apetite for energy , what are the plans for or how can we aquire

new sources of alternative energy. ?

also i have a great interest when the quantum revolution will come , but in the lng future.

it creates almost anything right , by changing the patern of an atom. from diamond to food , fuel.

    we are all energy

OT:oopps careful lang mga bay stay on topic lang this is science section \m/

anyway nakita ko docus about universe and naa ang discussion about string theory hehehehe wa nako gihumag tan aw kay almost 20gb hehehe daghan man sila gud

di basta basta sabton man gud hehehehe kadaghan sa mga strings hehehehehe

Hmm... I believe in God just as any other person who does. ngano? This is not the right place to discuss so diha lang kutob. hahaha close topic. hehe

There are already a lot of things going on. Steven Chu, Nobel prize in Physics 1997 was recently appointed by Pres. Obama as the Secretary of Energy. Before he did this, and after his Nobel Prize, he jumped ship on his research. He must have thought that he has already contributed a lot for Experimental Quantum Optics and thought that he should focus now on a different problem. Since then he has been involved in energy research. I don't know exactly what he is doing but he along with his group are doing some research for innovations in energy source for the future. You can do more research about what he is currently doing. hehe

Second thing that I know about is the Nuclear Fusion research program head by the European commission.
ITER - the way to new energy
This is a very interesting and promising program. A huge lab is currently being built in France. When we (me and my colleagues) our 1st master year in our program, the European Union(source of our scholarship) Head of Research and Technology (im not sure if that was the exact name of his title) gave talk to us about Science and Research in Europe. After that talk, it really opened my eyes on the attitude of western politics on science contrary to developing countries like Pinas. Anyway, most his talk was about this Nuclear Fusion program. According to him, European nations would spend as much as they can of research because they know it will eventually benefit in huge magnitudes. He also said that this ITER program aims in unlocking the possibilities of Fusion energy. As of now, its still a long shot. He said it will probably take 50 years for tangible results but they are willing to wait that long. If within 50 years, we can have free energy, then why not? For me, this is very promising.

Their website contains a lot of interesting info. For all we know, maybe string theory will be an integral key in completing the research.

Very interesting that you brought this up, my prof in nanoscience was discussing about wavefunctions on a simple nuclear reaction. Anyway, the reaction involved an isotope of Hydrogen called Tritium decomposing into another isotope of helium plus an electron. I was asking if this was some sort of Fission process. He said it is not and will never be. He said its more of transmutation. Then talked about alchemy about those people in the old days dreaming of converting wood, perhaps into Gold. He said that we, having the right background, know that this might be possible. But why would you do it? Or why hasn't anybody thought about it? Because it is very expensive.... hahaha You cost in conversion could be even more than the value of your converted material and plus there is a chance that your converted material is radioactive. hehehe!

This is exacty the realm, of nuclear and particle physics. hehehehe! But diamond to food? Correct me if I'm wrong, I think this will be in chemistry. When nothing is different with the nucleus of the atoms and food. Diamond is just a unique Carbon lattice structure. Food? It's just carbon based organic molecules. So you are basically just adding atoms and forming molecules. hehehehehe

What's up string theory fans? I'd like to share some news I found.

If you have watched many String theory documentaries or read books about it, you will know who Michael Green is. Well, he has just been confirmed as the next confirmed as the next Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, to succeed Stephen Hawking on 1 November 2009 at Cambridge University. Influential people who held the position previously were Isaac Newton, Paul Dirac, and Stephen Hawking, and of course many more.

To find out more, check out the link below. =D

pretty cool tho. too bad it wun be posibble within our life time . but there's a posible we can contribute to science a leave our name on stones, within our life time.
