this question is flawed, in a sense that the presumed answer to the question is chained to a person's partiality/biases. the assumption of a particular or specific answer to this question is simply preposterous. another reason im not to keen on the question is that it is openly assuming that one is dwelling in a plane of permanence, or one can no longer change their preference as they go along in their lifetime.

so for the interest of political correctness(and the perpetuation of intellectual evolution), i would highly suggest the topic to be changed to: "in your opinion, what is the best book to be written??" and/or "what is your favorite book...as of the moment?"

I'm answering the question "what is your favorite book...as of the moment?"

mr. balut-man. i think that the question "what is the best book ever" is okay, if you take "ever" as an expression in the intensive, emphasising the value or strength of feeling you hold for a particular book, and not in its literal sense. If you think back, the "ever!" expression gained popularity as an exclamatory ending to statements, usually made by gays and women such as in "It is the best ever! Promise!" and the like. Usage of it though has waned.
