    Default Garcia

    Dili ko taga cafitol, but I know the garcias way back when they were still in leyte.
    They are decent people with a great track record for public service. They were up there
    and we were just common folk but our family still got to talk to them in a normal setting
    outside political functions, they're very down to earth. That's why I'll defend them in this forum.
    Gamay ra man bayad internet cafe ba.

    I know nga nahimo na nga natural tendency to paint all incubment politicians or
    just politicians as greedy uncaring pigs pero it is unfair to those who are doing their
    work to the best of their abilities. It is also very easy ( and lazy ) to believe rumors,
    let's make cebu the best place in the philippines by showing we are discerning and
    informed citizens. Please read on the issues and compare all the facts! Would you feel the
    same if someone accused you of something and everyone believed without a shred of evidence?
    Let's not make cebu into another NCR, ok?

    and, let's all pray for them up there. There's another storm brewing and it will arrive in 3 days kuno.

    Got something, substantiate!!!

    Let's ask the big question we're all circling here.

    Springfield, admin ka? Kung admin ka, do you divulge private information about your forum members? Para lang ma clear among concern about our privacy and the security of our information in this forum.

    Is there anyway for any party to get the forum member's list?
    No we dont divulge private information because that would violate also the privacy of the individual . Second , I personally am not interested in the personal lives of the forumers so I can vouch for myself lol and lastly .... the list of of members are publicly available . Just click the link " MEMBERS " and it will bring you there . List that composed members with multiple accounts , dummy accounts , forum viewing accounts etc and the rest are active accounts .

    My suggestion is to just be careful and mindful of what you post . If you are one sided , be fair and justify all your statements . Dili kay mo deretso ta ug sulti na GWEN is a BITCH , BYRON murag MINATAY na or WINSTON kawatan sa GSIS .

    KNow also what are the basis or grounds to be charged with LIBEL or what are the formats and the nature of postings that constitutes LIBELOUS STATEMENTS .
    " A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. " - 2nd Amendment , Bill of Rights of the United States of America

    The anatomy of a libel case

    THE libel case filed by deposed President Erap against billionaire businessman Alfonso Yuchengco and the Philippine Daily Inquirer came as no surprise.

    The libel suit was in connection with this paper’s report confirming Sen. Panfilo Lacson’s exposé that the former President intimidated the businessman into selling his stake at the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) so his friends could have control over the phone firm.

    In my personal experience, a libel case is a recourse by government people or private individuals whose wrongdoing have been exposed in public in order to belie the report and persecute the source of the report.

    * * *

    The rationale for a libel suit is the public’s supposed reaction in favor of the person who filed the case.

    “See, if the report were true why should he file the libel case? The reporter (or columnist) is trying to destroy the guy’s good name.”

    I should know, since I’ve had about a hundred libel cases dating back to my days in another paper.

    Most of the libel cases were dismissed in the prosecutors offices and in court because I was not motivated by malice but by public interest.

    There is malice is when you spread lies about another person in order to destroy his reputation.

    * * *

    In my experience, what reputation was there to destroy since the person in question had destroyed it long before I wrote about him.

    In short, no libel.

    In the case of Erap, people who are perceptive know about his gangster mentality, apparently because of the personalities he played in the movies.

    The prosecutor handling the libel case filed against Yuchengco and the Philippine Daily Inquirer should ask himself: Was the report about Erap motivated by public interest or malice?

    It’s not difficult to arrive at the answer.

    * * *

    I’ll give you a peek into how Philippine Daily Inquirer editors treat a delicate story or one that may destroy a person’s reputation.

    In the case of my column, after the section editor, Abel Ulanday, goes over my copy, he passes it on to Gani Yambot, the paper’s publisher.

    Gani goes through this column several times so that only allegations that are of public interest and those supported by facts, i.e. documents, come out in this column.

    If Gani has doubts about some statements in this column, he consults with the paper’s lawyers.

    If opinion pieces like mine are given a thorough going-over, much more care is given a news story so the paper can, as much as possible, avoid a libel suit or a case for damages.

    * * *

    The late PR man Querico “Ric” Lim, a good friend, had a very sensible advice to people in power:

    Use your power to help others because when you’re out of power the people you’ve helped will return the favor.

    As it's very difficult to substantiate any of the allegations here, I think the best thing for Istoryans to do is to review all the previous posts related to this - it's easy just click on the link to the forumer involved and read through the relevant posts and threads. Then you can come up with your conclusion based on what you've read and based on the back and forth arguments between the parties and decide if indeed somebody at Capitol is behind this.

    If you don't like what's going on and if you believe the Garcias have had a hand in this (as I do after reading everything and putting 2 + 2 together) then do your duty and vote them out of power so they can be held accountable for their crimes once and for all. Next years' elections are very important, they will be the first to be electronic and automated, making it very difficult if not impossible for the cheating and dirty tactics that Trapos resort to in order to steal the vote. Coincidentally, this is likely the major reason why Congressman Garcia is so afraid of automation and why he tried his very best to stop it. Luckily for us, the Supreme Court saw through his duplicity and his pathetic attempt to stick to the status quo of manual elections, dag-dag bawas and tampering of COE has been stopped dead in its tracks.

    The time of the Garcias is coming to an end and with that a renewed hope for a new beginning, free from multibillion peso scandals, free from politics of personality and free from annoying front page headlines with mugs of people who look more like tinderas or criminals than leaders! Use your power to vote, take advantage of electronic elections and defeat the evil villains!

    But Pablo John certainly did not substantiate over the SRP-FLI land deal, did he?

    But then again, this particular thread is not about him or them for that matter.
