If candid shots, shoot from the hip (na mention na ni) and burst.
A super telephoto/telephoto lens would be helpful.
Like sa unsa ni nga genre? street photography?
Mas nindot pud na shoot nimo sa ang subject then duolon nimo, paila2x ka then pakita nimo
ang shots. If dili xa gusto, let him/her see na you deleted the picture.
Based ni sa among experiences during sa among mga photowalks diri sa siudad sa sugbo. :P
sorry double post. >_<

"if it's not good enough, you're not close enough"
ang d5000 kay para jud ani.
ako style is kanang I pan my camera as if im taking pictures of everything around
I do it in a manner like im scanning the whole horizon or area and aim at various directions with the lens as if im not interested on a particular subject. but ur gonna have to be quick (4 seconds is tooo long)in framing, composing and, click! then continue to pan around as if u just pause for a bit to his/her or your subject's direction. then continuously move on and "search-around" with ur lens. ilad2x ra gud
Considering the culture we have in Philippines. Kung candid PORTRAIT photos in a public area. Most of the time, the bigger your camera is, the further you have to be from your subject. Why? Have a small camera in your hand, go to a mall and take candid portraits of people. Nobody would even notice you or care. But walk around the mall with your dslr and try to take a candid PORTRAIT of a stranger next to you. All eyes will be on you for taking a photo of someone obviously you don't know.
I think its best to shoot from the HIP. Anhi advantage ang naay articulated lcd screen + Live view. hihi
But if you're an official photographer of an event. You may take candid photos of anyone in the event without worries.
