Some are always promising new hope in politics but they end up doing the same. Until now, there are candidates who keep on promising change but I really doubt if there is any sincerity on it. I'd rather have a realistic view on what they can impose if and when they are put into office rather than have all their promises then break them all after they are elected in public office.

The trend is just the same every election year. They promise change that never happens. In the end, people always suffer. How can we stop this? Maybe we should really have a realistic view on what we can change and how do we start it. Somehow, we will be able understand them enough to know who can really serve us well.

I agree that there were negatives in the past but not as much as today... the past had more principle than today in more ways ...

What a lot of people forget nowadays is that Ramon Magsaysay was the CIA candidate. His campaign was run and financed by the CIA, with psywar expert Col. Ed Lansdale at point. Lansdale would write a book about his stint with the Agency and Magsaysay figured prominently.

The CIA chose Magsaysay for his ability to contain the communist Hukbalahap rebellion that nearly brought the government down in the 50's. Having said that, I never thought this detracted from the greatness of his presidency one bit. Besides, if the CIA's support for Magsaysay succeeded in averting a communist takeover (and it did), so what?
