On the 25th of September, Ka Joey graces us once again with his music, and this time he will be with his band Bagong Lumad...back-to-roots music at its best, a sound that is distinctly Filipino.
Joey Ayala music has been called folk, country, pop, ethnic, and alternative. But his imagination and willingness to experiment with various instruments and tunes have given his music a unique sound. With his band
Bagong Lumad, he performs original songs that make use of indigenous elements and native instruments like the Maranao
kulintang and the T’boli
hegalong along with modern instruments. Many of his songs deal with environmental and political issues.
