marcos.. is a great name.. well my son was named Marcus.. hehehe.
he is lawmaking body president mas genious pah cya sa congress
Marcos' concept of governance (yes even marital law) could potentially work in our favor and for the greater good of the country if applied responsibly. Unsaon man gud tao ra man gud atong ex-President and is not incorruptible to power.
Personally, I think he was a puppet of some sort. I don't think he is to blame for all. From what we know now, a president doesn't have ABSOLUTE power. For all we know, 1/4 ra ana ang iyaha. The rest sa cronies and even *cough* *cough* ang asawa.
We were an important ally in the region in the 60's and 70's because of the Vietnam War and the need to maintain bases here to counter Soviet and Chinese influence in the region. Paghuman sa Vietnam War, pagkawala sa Clark ug Subic, ug paghuman sa Cold War wala na tay freebies kaayo gikan sa US.
At some point the AFP under Marcos became configured for fighting insurgents and political dissidents, and imposing the iron hand of martial law. Not external defense. In other words, the AFP became a tool to oppress the citizenry, not defend them.
So the best thing I can say about Marcos now is that we got rid of him. I am not nostalgic for anything in the Marcos era because I know a lot of it were lies.
Though you have become the most-loathed leader in our times but I totally have so much respect for you.
Too bad I was way too young to shake your hand but meeting your son last Sinulog was enough for me to tell him how much you have done for our country. Too bad, you were just in a bad company of ruthless people.
