MANILA, Philippines - Patuloy na namamayagpag ang mga mama­mahayag ng ABS-CBN at muling pinatu­nayan ang kanilang husay sa kanilang larangan mata­pos silang tumanggap ng iba’t ibang pagkilala sa loob at labas ng bansa.
Pinarangalan sina Julius Babao, bilang 2009 most outstanding male news presenter, at Ces Oreña-Drilon bilang best female field re­por­ter of the year sa ginanap na COMGUILD Center for Journalism 4th Annual Confe­rence of Jour­nalism and Communication Stu­dents of the Philippines noong Agosto 2 sa AFP Theater.
Silang dalawa ang nakakuha ng may pina­ka­mataas na boto mula sa 55 na hurado na binu­buo ng mga dekano at iba pang opisyal mula sa iba’t ibang ko­le­hiyo at unibersidad sa bansa. Ito ang panga­lawang pagkakataon na gina­wa­ran si Babao ng parehas na pag­kilala.
Samantala, sina Ricky Ca­ran­dang, Niña Corpuz, at Nadia Trini­dad naman ay kapwa nabigyan ng kani-kanilang fellowship grants mula sa magkaibang kiniki­la­lang insti­tusyon.

Willie Revillame remains a big hit with ‘Wowowee’ fans in Nevada

Wowowee invaded Lake Tahoe in Nevada last weekend where thousands of TFC subscribers went to see Willie Revillame who has been on leave for over a month now. Fans put up colorful banners as a sign of their support for Willie, which further inspired the host to get back to work despite the nonstop intrigues surrounding his absence. “Na-miss ko din ang lahat, sobra. More than one month na ako nagbabakasyon and hopefully makabalik na din dahil nakapagrelax na ako,” said Willie who was also overjoyed to see his colleagues once again.

Willie has been on leave since he made a bold statement asking to remove the live feed of Cory Aquino’s funeral cortege being aired alongside Wowowee last August 4. Willie maintained that he meant well and the Aquino family has already accepted his apology. The whole experience has strengthened his resolve to keep his audience happy through Wowowee. Willie will be resuming his hosting duties on September 21 as per ABS-CBN and MTRCB’s resolution regarding the controversy.

With the number of kapamilyas abroad who make it a point to watch the show live at the ABS-CBN compound, it’s no surprise that Wowowee has become a top tourist attraction. “Kasama nila araw-araw yang TFC na ‘yan. Nagbibigay ng impormasyon and most especially nagbibigay po ng pagmamahal sa inyo. Parang nasa Pilipinas ka din ‘pag merong kang TFC [kaya talagang hinahanap-hanap nila ang Wowowee],” he added.
