Get any means of transfortation to Leyte, then get a van or bus to Matalom, Southern Leyte. When in Matalom, Leyte Canigao Island is just about 30 mins by bangka.

You can take a slow boat or fastcraft going to Ormoc and ask the bus drivers on how to go to Matalom, Leyte.

How to go to Canigao Island

From Cebu to Leyte province, you can take a fast craft or slow boat in going to Ormoc City but this is pretty expensive and time consuming.

From Cebu look for any boat trips in going to Hilongos, Leyte. The town next to Bato is Matalom (Hilongos -> Bato -> Matalom). Others suggested that it's good if you take a boat trip from Cebu to Bato, Leyte to save time.

Canigao Island is 15 to 30 minutes off Matalom, Southern Leyte.

To help you with the location, you can try "Google Earth" and search for Hilongos, Leyte or Bato, Leyte...then try Canigao Island.

There are small stores in the island but it's best to bring your own food and other neccesities.

The rental of the cottage / tent ranges from P400 to P500.

It is also highly recommended to bring bottled mineral water to sustain your stay in the island. There's no water for drinking in the island.

The charge per person for each trip via "bangka" (small boat) from Matalom, Leyte to Canigao Island is only P40.

There are boat trips from Canigao to Matalom (vice-versa) regularly.

If you have photos and videos please help us promote the island. Contact info@canigaoisland.com.
