Ngano daghan artist polus naman revival or cover versions. Di sila kabalo mohimo nag original? or mas dali makakwarta (without much effort) ning maghimog reaarangement sa usa ka cover song.

Most bands, it was just a phase when they were celebrating an anniversary or something similar of distinguished old artists, then nakisabay nalang sila sa hype (albeit improving their rep) na mu-cover sa ilang song as a form of tribute. Otherwise, publicity ra na nila.

Daghan pa original dira, uban wla pa nisikat. Daghan talented diri na musician, pero it's a harsh reality in making it big in the music industry, I don't even know where to begin explaining.

Pero in the case of Pop OPM, yeah, daghan ra nangopya.

AFAIK Philippines has not yet made a contribution to the music scene as far as genre is concern. And who said that OPM is Phil indigenous music? for that matter Folk music is not even invented by us. One thing I am certain is that music is still evolving and it's natural and common for musicians to be influenced or inspired. Even the greatest British band like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones they're music was borrowed from the Black American music. Music is a universal language that knows no racial or regional barriers.

To say that the current crop of talents are copy cats is pathetic. It's like OPM has been established as a genre already. OPM is a misnomer and invented by record labels and the press. If you want original Philippine music you can try music of the indigenous tribe from the isolated mountains of Luzon or Mindanao but that is still debatable since those music are also handed down by the ancestors from Africa when the whole continent used to be a single mass of land.
