Default where do you print your digital images?

in which stores do you print your images from your digital cameras? maybe we can share our experiences and recommendations.

i always have my JPGs printed at FUJI in SM. it's not really out of choice but it's just convenient for me to go there and the price is good. maybe you guys can recommend other stores.

i have my fotos printed in Fuji Colors SM..8X10 borderless copy cost P39..the quality of the prints will depend on your original image so much better that you will do the editing/enhancement first before having it printed.

how about calibrating your monitors? i use adobe gamma (which comes from photoshop) for my AOC LCD screen but prints from FUJI SM aren't exactly the same with what i see in my PC.

how do you make sure that the printout will exactly be the same with what you see in your monitor?

1.) download kodak or gretagmacbeth color target image reference
2.) bring it to your favourite photolab (fuji sm, colours or whatever)
3.) tell them to print AS IS (no correction)

    now .. the calibration part.

1.) compare the printed image to the one being displayed on your monitor.
... most of the time it won't be the same.

2.) adjust your monitor .. set your monitor brightness/contrast to the extreme.

3.) depends on your videocard .. most videocard has advance color management included nowadays.

3.a) adjust gamma -- make sure the light to dark patches will be rendered faithfully, don't mind the color for now.
3.b) once the gamma are corrected, adjust the color ... again, this will depend on your videocard ... just adjust the slider until
    it is "almost" the same.

the word here to expect is "ALMOST" "mura ug pareho na" .. coz you can't really calibrate
this stuff faithfully because of so many variables e.g inconsistent power supply, imong suga mokalit hanap, imong monitor mokalit hanap, even then if it's calibrated, tommorow the result might be different .. lasaw ang chemicals sa imong photolab.

so you mean my picture won't be the same when printed?
it may or may not exactly the same but it will be CLOSE as you wanna get it.

kaning atong calibration "mata mata" ra ni.
coz we don't have access to spectrophotometer. even if we have .. you don't know if
your photos will be printed on noritsu or fuji .. every printer has different profiles -- even the same models varies.

i had the same problem on my LCD, and it was making me nuts bec. i could never "correctly" calibrate theLCD...

so, i went to a dual monitor set up and installed a second CRT. looking at one photo on both monitors side-by-side, there's really a big difference in color. it may look "good" on the LCD, but its actually not on the CRT, and i confirmed this by copying the same photo to a different PC with a CRT. now, i do photoshop on the CRT only...

now i do photoshop only on the CRT

i believed lcd nowadays are good for pre-press (Apple won't push for them if not)
but there's a reason why still there's 50 - 100K crt avaiable on the market

i found the color target you can download:

read my previous post how to calibrate.
