yes the higher the voltage, the more heat it produces...it is now up to your cooling setup how fast it can dissipate/transfer the heat out from the processor heat shield to the cpu cooler and out of your casing...when it gets too hot, Intel processors simply shut themselves off to cool down...AMD's just march on until it fry itself to death...mao nai dako kaayo nga difference between Intel & AMD procies...

    overclockers can be modders.
some overclockers buy expensive stuff just to test how far they can push it until said hardware is destroyed.
basically there are two main camps of overclockers:
-those who do it mainly out of curiousity & passion...or fun hobby if you may call it...COST IS NOT A CONCERN for them...

    - then there is the other camp where they practice the lost art of over-clocking...it is not buying the most expensive/best stuff and hoping it goes fast...it's buying the cheapest stuff and making it go fast.

unsain man gud ni atoa bro na pinobrehay man gud ni atoa, so what we got, we maximize it.

we overclock becase there is learning that involves there. that's why we tend to notice that overclockers know a lot of stuffs about comp and tech as a whole kay they study for themselves. they read and they try to understand. and with those understanding, they experiment and go beyond what has been already set in place.

be happy, kay with those OC in mind, manufacturers give u the best product. OC is stability and usability testing for them. ure 9-series VC from nvidia were born from OC'ed 8-series. ure Q9xxx and FSB 1600 were from the OC settings.

If there's a third then there should be a 4th, these are the Pro's who overclocks for living. With the growing community of overclockers and company endorsement, it will not be surprising to see them get a large chunk of money for allowing their names to be used for marketing campaigns or hire them as part of the R&D team. There's already few of them out there now.
